* Slept in this morning, which was nice. Well, I went to bed around 1:15 AM, woke up somewhere around 6-ish, fell back to sleep and finally got up around 10:00.
* Minikin made yummy fried egg, bacon, and cheese sandwiches for brunch, on onion rolls. We both nibbled on some Rainier cherries as well. Those are my favorite fresh cherries, yum!
* Went out to the post office this afternoon to mail out two swaps - one for the Yahoo Coffee Shop group that I'm part of, and one for the LJ Idol Summer Swap. I hope my person likes what I am sending!
* Speaking of LJ Idol, I easily made it through the Contestant Only vote, which was quite a relief. Our new topic is "Chekhov's Gun," and hubby gave me a really fun idea on what to write. I'll have to ponder it, and decide if I can do it justice or not. Also, Wiki. Because... Wiki. And Chekhov. And guns.
* The post office finally had new International postage stamps. I was getting tired of still sending out Christmas Wreath stamps in July. The new stamps are beautiful - round, with a silhouette of North America on them, and swirls of color behind it. I think all the international folks that I send postcards to for Postcrossing will really like the new stamps!
* Popped in to Starbucks afterwards, where I had a light Java Chip frappuccino and sat and read my Kindle for a bit. While there, the barista made a series of wrong orders for someone in the drive-thru (3 grande Mocha Cookie Crumble fraps). He made them with coffee, when the customer apparently wanted them without, so the three wrong drinks ended up on the counter and were free to whomever wanted them. Of course, I nabbed one, because the Mocha Cookie Crumble is one of my favorites, although I usually get the light version. Delicious!
* Went to the grocery store to pick up a few staple items - we were almost completely out of white bread at the house, and I also got a bag of potatoes, a small jug of milk, a few not-quite-ripe avocados, grape tomatoes, and fresh Mozzarella cheese from the deli. The avocados, tomatoes, and Mozzarella will be sliced & diced and mixed together in a day or two with a bit of salt into a delicious side dish, although I've been known to eat it as a meal in and of itself! One can also add basil, and sometimes I add just a pinch, but quite frankly I prefer it without.
* We will be heading out to Culver's for dinner tonight. Haven't eaten there in quite some time, so it will be a nice change of pace.
* I recently discovered the awesome music of Lindsey Stirling - an extremely talented violinist, who has been getting air play of her latest song, "Shatter Me." The video can be found on YouTube here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49tpIMDy9BE and it is wonderful. Lzzy Hale does the singing. Trust me, you will easily get lost in those videos - go see for yourself. I'll wait...
(A while later...)
So? What did you think? Pretty damn awesome, right?
