You'll never guess what we did today!
We took a HIKE. Yep. There's pretty much one a day on the schedule, with the exception of Tuesdays, which is more gym-based stuff instead. Anyway, we went back to the Hill Country trails (they have at least a dozen different trails, I think) and Dwayne and I walked on one of the flatter trails for about 3 to 3.5 miles, at a guess. It took us about 90 minutes, so I'd say that's pretty accurate.
On the plus side, the weather has been very nice here - not too hot for the most part, although this afternoon it did get quite a bit warmer, which is why we take our hikes earlier in the day. I've been very glad to have my baseball cap, both to keep the sun off my head and to absorb the sweat and keep it out of my eyes.
After the hike, we did a conditioning class, then had lunch - tilapia filet and some homemade cole slaw in a whole wheat tortilla wrap, with a side of black beans. It was yummy.
This afternoon was supposed to be the obstacle course with Dwayne, but it was so hot and my legs were achy, so I skipped that in favor of catching up on LJ and checkiing on
therealljidol poll to be sure I wasn't eliminated (again). Fortunately, I managed to make it through to round 19 (phew), so yay! Thanks to everyone who tossed a vote my way! Now I just have to figure out what to write for "Mirage," whee.
Anyway, later on we did water aerobics, then I took a brief nap in my cabin, then dinner at 6pm. We had a pecan-encrusted chicken breast with a side of steamed broccoli and a small salad. For a snack earlier this afternoon I had half a green apple with a spoonful of homemade peanut butter. This evening I had an orange. Nom nom nom!
Tomorrow there's a trail ride at 10am. I don't know if I should go or not - I sort of want to, because I won't be able to go next Sunday, as I'll have to leave the ranch early in the morning to get back to San Antonio in time to check in for a 12pm flight; however, I've only been atop an equine for just 20 minutes since I've been here (aka, Otis the mule) and even if I get to ride Otis again, I don't know if I feel secure enough yet to be going out on a trail, even though it's supposed to be an easy one, at a walk, and is only an hour ride. Argh. I guess it can't hurt (much) to try, assuming I don't fall off!
Not much else going on right now; as usual, I'm the night owl of the bunch - everyone else has gone off to sleep! Ciao!
