The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly

The Good
* Got most of my Christmas shopping done, except for perhaps a few more stocking stuffers.
* Got most of the presents wrapped, except for whatever I will be helping Knight wrap - I can't open any of the boxes that are addressed to him, in case something in them is for me.
* Got most of the tree decorated last night - there are a few more ornaments to hang, and it needs a new topper - but otherwise it's about 90% done.
* Picked up a box of holiday cards at Kohl's yesterday, then sat at Starbucks for a while and used the contact info in my iPhone to address them all, then drove over to the post office, picked up stamps from their vending machine, and posted the cards.
* I can't guarantee delivery in time for Christmas, but I'd imagine they'll get there by then.
* I also finally mailed off a spare copy of Idol Musings to my brother - it's the big book of assorted entries from therealljidol members that was published last year by Fey Publishing. I had ordered three copies at the time - one for me, one for my Aunt Phyllis, and one for my brother. I gave Aunt Phyllis her copy last year, and finally mailed off the one for my brother. I hope he enjoys it!
* We get Thursday and Friday off work this week in honor of Christmas. Yay!

The Bad
* Our driveway is still covered in quite a bit of ice. It's around the back of our house. The back of our house faces north. Part of the driveway is under the deck, so gets even less sun. My car keeps spinning her tires every time I back out of the garage, and it takes several minutes of slow back-n-forth before I can get enough purchase under the wheels to get her up the driveway. Argh.

The Ugly
* As I was writing checks to pay some bills this weekend, I was shocked to open our electric bill - which is on autopay - and discover that we had been charged $950+ instead of our more usual $150. Fortunately, the bill hadn't gone through yet (it was due on the 27th) and Knight was able to determine that they'd mis-entered our meter reading as 49,000-ish instead of 39,000-ish. They are going to send someone out to do a re-read, then re-bill us for the correct amount, which won't be subtracted from our checking until the new due date. Phew! That could've been REAL ugly!!

Okay... back to work!
