What better way to inaugurate the Beer Blog than with an old friend, and a new friend?

Tonight, genet and I went to Rugan's, our little town's tapas bar. Until recently, the very thought of this rural farm town having a tapas bar was laughable, but now it seems to fit right in. Used to be more of a topless bar area, if you know what I mean. That's ( Read more... )

So you drank a tripel, ate all that food, and then went out in the sun.

I'm surprised someone didn't have to carry your ass home.

I did offer to go home and get the car. He declined, and I daresay he was in better condition when we finally got home than I was. ;)

I'm trying to remember if I've had that particular Flying Dog brew before. I'll admit that I'm not the biggest fan of their stuff... most of what I've had from them falls very squarely in my much-scorned "overhopped" category.

Need to try Fin du Monde.

Heh. I think we were over at Kelly's Cupcakes about a half-hour before you got to Rugan's :-) (Incidentally, short review: OK cupcakes, definitely not worth the price though.)

I highly approve of Rugan's beer selection and am intrigued by the Beer Fraternity :-) Now we just need to find something Dan-friendly on the menu and we'll be in business!

Roasted Beef Tenderloin Quesedilla -
Beef tenderloin, cheddar cheese, caramelized red onions (can probably request no onions, but I couldn't taste them, they aren't noticable)

Burger Flight Trio -
cheddar and bacon with garlic sauce, avocado and onion crisps with spicy chipotle sauce, and mushroom and Swiss with grilled onions (again, would probably need to ask that things be adjusted)

flatbreads -
They don't have these really on the menu, but if I recall correctly, the white flatbread may be Dan's speed; it's alfredo sauce, various cheeses and fresh basil. They're essentially personal sized pizzas. :)
