Wow, so much to tell...
First of all, I got a call today that I did not get the job in Asheville, NC. However, they said that they really liked me and want me to come back in about 6 months to give another massage. Basically, this means they really want to hire me but I need more experience. It's not terribly surprising; Grove Park is one of the top spas in the country and I did just graduate. And I've been hearing from several places I've interviewed with that I need experience in the field. So my plan right now is to move to Vail and work there for the season. I still have the possible job in New Mexico, but honestly, the more I think about it the more I want to just *be* somewhere for a significant period of time. I'm pretty tired of having my life up in the air, and if I'm completely honest with myself, I really want NC more than NM, so waiting until the end of the ski season and then interviewing again in North Carolina seems pretty appealing. Plus, I really like the guy who'll be my boss in Vail, and he's already talking about giving me more responsibilities and moving up the chain a bit.
The down side to this is that I'll be working pretty solidly through the holidays. It'll be the first Christmas away from home (although my parents and sister and aunt may drive up to visit me during this time), and I definately can't come to New Years, which is very depressing to me. I kinda rely on you guys to refuel me, so to speak, and I'm really bummed about not seeing the kitten!
In other news, we also heard today that my "brother's" grandmother is going to be leaving us soon. You may not remember, but her husband died just before I went to Europe in July so I missed his funeral. At any rate, they might as well be my own grandparents, and it's a sad time for us all. On the other hand, she's 98 years old and I always knew she'd probably not last long after her husband went, so it's not exactly a surprise.
So, that's the news from me....the good, the bad, and the utter relief at finally having a plan!
