Ah...lovely pic, Rohan. I walked with Anush down the length of the road one day, just to sensitize him to the beauty of it...I took a couple of pics but they didn't do justice to the tree cover, and I was thinking of going again...this picture shows the majesty of the trees...how criminal it would be to deal Bangaloreans a double whammy by chopping them down, and letting in more petrol-based vehicles and the Metro in its place.
It seems, sometimes, to me, that our administrations only see rupee signs when they see trees like this in a wide, shady boulevard...and they don't realize that planting another sapling somewhere isn't the same thing, at all.
This is vinay here from Cottons. Dude, tell me what we can do to help man. I'm in mysore now but I'll do whatver I can. Also, has it been announced in the papers/any other media that this is on the official list of roads to be widened?(I have not read Bangalore newspapers since some 10 days or so, so I dont know :-( ).
Hey vinay, thanks a lot for the support. I am one of the guys who is handling the backend work for the website.
I attended a HasiruUsiru meeting with the Tree Officer at the BBMP office today. 4 of us were there but we did put across some points. I will be posting the details soon on my blog.
I am sure we could do a lot of work as well as create awareness among the citizens with SaveNandaRoad.com . ESG/HasiruUsiru/Civic have been looking into all the technical details and trying to figure out a solution for this. Will post more details. Give me a day or two.
hmmm can we really do this???shruteiOctober 29 2007, 05:04:30 UTC
well this i feel is one of the proofs left for our visitors and also we bangaloreans that our city could still be called the garden city.. i also strongly believe that modernisation or urbanisation must'nt mean or lead to destruction of nature's gift... There are alot of afforts being put for saving this beauty... but people do you think we all could really make it !!!! Should we be more bold and louder????
