My Christmas Eve was alright. I woke up early to make
Bonuelos...*drool*... I love those things. They are so good. Ok so me
and my grandma were rolling up the dough while my sister fried them.
After they were all done, with the syrup made and everything (we didn't
put them on top of them at that moment of course because they would
have gotten all soggy), I went to take a shower to go to the party.
It's like a tradition in my family, actually it's the only tradition we
have besides New Year's Eve. We always get a big pig and roast him in a
china box in someone's backyard on Christmas Eve. We have a big party
with it. For like 5 years in a row it was done at my house, but this
year we did at my Uncle Panchi's house, which I just found out the real
name of. I always thought it was Pablo or something, but it's Juan. I
see him all the time. He is my godfather and all, but I have always
called by his nickname. Almost every guy in my family has a nickname
with a P in it. Panchi, Papucho, Papi, Pillo (double l, y sound, like
in Spanish), Pepito, Pedrito, and none of them have a P in their real
name, except Pedrito, but that's pretty obvious.
Anyways we got there and brought the bonuelos that we made for the
party. It was nice outside. There weren't any bugs - at first. After a
while of being there the bugs started getting to us. They were
everywhere! I think the citronella candles just urged them on. I got
bit like crazy that day. I still have the bites. Anyways it was
Panchi's wife's birthday that day too. They bought her a cake for it. I
didn't get to eat the cake, but I'm sure that it was good. We had
dinner like 2 hours after we got there. Panchi had benn cooking the
pork since 4 o'clock in the morning that day. I know it's a little
radical, but he loves doing that. It's the only time of year that I eat
pork. I don't like it very much (so sorry Pilar). They like salt it and
everything to make the skin all crunchy to eat it. I hate eating the
skin. I hate eating the fat too. It's just nasty. Destiny(6) and
Desiree(3) are my two... I guess you could call them cousins if you
want to. Well Destiny got an electronic piano for Christmas and Desiree
got a doll. The piano also had a microphone, which is exactly what we
bought her for Christmas, but ours was better. *Lol* Desiree was always
trying to steal the piano from Destiny. Destiny would sing all she
would like, but Desiree was would not. She was too shy. She wasn't shy
enough to keep on trying to take that piano from Destiny. My
grandmother calls her 'una fiera'. She is a little fire. I sat with my
aunt and uncle to watch "It's A Wonderful Life" after I played with the
girls for a bit. Apparently it's a Christmas classic and that alot of
people have watched. I haven't though. So I was trying to watch it, but
I left too early to finish it. It looks like it would be a good movie,
but it was sooo long. I would have fallen asleep. We left and I went
straight to bed when I got home.
