We really don't discuss spirituality much in detail in my house. Between my wife and I we have a pretty firm understanding of where we are in realition to eachothers spiritual beliefs. She is a Wiccan and well I am... uh... something that doesn't have much in the way of rules or, uh... names. LOL. We try to impart our moral beliefs to our son with as few specifics as possible to avoid the "my mom's a witch!" moment at school. We try to keep it on the down-lo (yo) rather than outwardly be untruthful (in kansas this gets tricky).
So the weird part is my son has decided that he wants to be a scout. Uh... last time I checked they were VERY christian (though I am suprised to find they do have Jewish, Muslim, and Buddhist packs around the country). But still very dedicated to what they have all agreed to as the One True God, which they all worship seperately in their own ways. And as I understand it they still discriminate in many ways against homosexuals which is a value I will not condone. So I guess if anyone has had any experience in this area I wouldn't mind hearing it.
How do I allow my son to participate in an organization that I think would be good for him but overall teaches him to be intolerant and judges his parents as wrong-minded?
