I hope to read these books sometime soon (meaning sometime in the next year or so). I keep saying I should make a list and I keep not making one. So, here's my list, not in any particular order. Please share if there's any books you love that you think I should add! Or if one of them sucks, ;P
Books I want to read:
1. Jane Eyre by Charlotte

The Feminine Mystique is a tough read, but worth it; it reads like a really long scientific article. It's really fascinating when you realize that this book introduced Maslow's pyramid to the American public and revitalized the psychiatric community. Not to mention the women of America.
Dude, Angels and Demons is five billion times better than The DaVinci Code. And if you still want to read more Dan Brown, Deception Point is absolutely brilliant--my favorite work of his. I believe it was written before either of the Robert Langdon books, but I'm not quite sure...
Eldest is alright, I suppose. I mean, it's an okay fantasy novel, but I'm not a big fan of Paolini. I could name a bunch of writers in that genre who deserve more of the recognition he's receiving.
Antigone. ZOMG. LOVE IT. READ IT NOW. Same goes for Fahrenheit 451.
Hmm...recommendations. If you haven't read them already, I'd suggest Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy. Deception Point, mentioned above. Mary, Called Magdalene and The Red Tent are excellent novels about Biblical women in sort of the same vein as The Mists of Avalon. Good Omens is a brilliant humorous novel by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, both of whom have also written numerous books. And finally, Robin McKinley's Sunshine and Beauty. I love both of them. Not to mention all of the above. Book lovers unite!

I've read the first two chapters of it online. I couldn't find the rest of it, though. I just did a project on psychoanalysis (Freud, Penis envy, etc) and I've heard this book deals a lot with dispelling what Freud said about the women's subconscious, which made me want to read it more (because quite frankly, penis envy is one crack!theory. I'm pretty sure I do not want a penis, thank you very much, ;P).
I'll have to remember that about the Dan Brown books. ;P
I read Eragon, and I thought it was too much like LOTR for my liking (I love LOTR and it made me mad that some things just seemed to be taken straight out of there. It almost reads like a fanfiction). It wasn't my favorite book, but I'd just like to see how it ends, you know? Definitely better books out there.
Antigone. ZOMG. LOVE IT. READ IT NOW
Maybe I'll read Antigone this weekend. I printed it off the internet over Xmas break, intending it to read it (like that was really going to happen... I was only home for 2 days of it) but never got to it. I'm glad it's not just one of those things you read it because it's aluded to everywhere (although, most people find Oedipus to be that way, and I loved Oedipus *shrugs*).
I haven't read any of those books! Thanks for the recs!

I understand what you say about Paolini...embarrassingly enough, I own both books. *cringes* They're good time wasters, especially if you try to point out all the similarities to LOTR, Star Wars, etc. Yes, I have done this on car trips. And highlighted.
Mmmmm...Antigone...love love love. Oedipus as well, but I don't love it quite as much.
You're very welcome! I'm just glad my nerdiness has helped someone along the path of...more nerdiness. Yes.

lol. I do the same thing.
Only, not on car trips. I get car sick like nobody's business. Yuck.
