I love this turning over the year and starting fresh. I am about ready for a deep breath and a fresh start this week.
I have a few odd personal traditions for Samhain. This is my day for emptying the fridge of all leftovers.. They get eaten, made into something else and frozen or thrown away. This is also my day for getting all the dirty laundry clean. A way of starting fresh and renewed.
It will also be a night for fires and candles and a late late night as I watch the clock turn at midnight. I probably should have worked a way to get a nap this afternoon, but work was not having that. I will be good, I am not going to stay up all night, like I used to. I forgot to ask for Nov 1 off this year ( that mid nov vacation time has been a bit confusing) so no staying up forever. That really works best in a group gathering situation, anyway. I shall save the solitary watch until dawn for MidWinter and the retreat of the dark.
I will have some quiet time tonight, after kids are tucked away to ponder and plan and visualize for the year. Right now there are many potentials, many quivering sprouts of opportunity waiting in the wings, they need to be thinned, then weeded and the chosen fertilized. This week ( weather permitting) will be the winterizing of the vegetable garden... and perhaps the trimming of the perennials as well.
I hope you all have a glorious Halloween.
