May Update

May 01, 2008 18:58

I just read my mid-April update to see where I've come over the past 2-3 weeks and life is still challenging, but I think I see light at the end of the tunnel!

I don't have much to add about my relationship with my father, but we are talking once again and that is a good step. I'm trying not to avoid my parents as much as I did before, but it is still very awkward for me to see them as I feel I have let them down. The other day my Mother said, "Do you know how old you are? You are 28 and you shouldn't be living life on a whim!" Besides being gay, my parents are not happy with my decision to quit a high paying job to pursue a career that just doesn't have the same financial stability as my last one. I've told them I'll be fine and that I love what I do, maybe someday they'll understand me and where I'm coming from?

Not much to add on the romantic front. There is a hottie I've been seeing often, but we are trying to take it UBER slow and to just go with the flow. He knows I have been hurt a lot in the past and knows that I am pretty scared of being let down again. I look forward to seeing where this leads, only time will tell.

The situation at work is very frustrating compared to mid-April. As you know my doctor decided to relocate to Spokane leaving me with a schedule that is FUBARed and job security that is weak. Due to this, and financial reasons, I decided to apply at Keiser since I've heard a lot of good things about their dental team and they have a higher starting salary.

Today I was floated to the Mill Plain office again. Compared to my experience two weeks ago (I blogged about it) things went awesome today. I still have a lot to learn if I work with this doctor regularly, but I did much better and he was much more patient with me. woo hoo! I was dreading this day for the past two weeks, but besides being busy and stressful it went really well. I also received a job offer to be an Orthodontic assistant since my dentist is leaving. The pay would be better, the hours would be awesome, I'm just not sure if this will take me a step closer to or a step farther from going into Oral Surgery (my long term goal). I will think a lot about this over the next week.

Health wise I'm doing awesome. I finally got to the doctor and I'm as healthy as a Greyhound. I do have high blood pressure, but with some meds it should be normal in a few days. Yesterday after my jog I reached a new low weight and I should win the $150 at work for our 'Biggest Loser' contest. Anyone want to hit up a buffet with me!?

Thanks for reading everyone!
