Had a nice weekend, thought I'd write a bit about it, not often I get a whole weekend out. ;P

Had a quiet friday actually. Ended up watching Man on Fire with some of the girls here at the house. I've seen it before, but that was at like 5 a.m. so this time I got a little more out of it. It's a good film, if only a bit long.

Saturday started out ( Read more... )

The Aviator was a lousy movie. End of discussion.

[makes plans to hunt down Martin Scorsese]

It wasn't very engaging no... but I liked the technical stuff.

Well, imho opinion, Scorsese is an absolutely worthless director. There were too many scenes where I thought 'If they'd hired a professional director, it would've looked good', stuff like that. Acting department was weak as well. Most of the people could have done so much better; Cate Blanchett for instance. She was so below her level in that film... don't think she deserves the AA nomination for this particular role.
I also hated the way the story was structured. It just randomly started somewhere, and randomly ended somewhere. There was no real clue or anything, it just stopped. His insanity was badly explained as well, and... God, that film was LENGTHY. I felt like I'd sat through the entire LotR trilogy at the end, only it was a bad movie, not three good ones...

Hehe, I pretty much agree with you, except for the Cate Blanchett part, Apparantly she's just like Katherine was at that time.
I am agreeing with you about the plot and everything, and that it was Looooooooong, it is very overhyped.

I know, Katherine was said to be like that at that time, but especially the first scene she did... it was screaming 'lesbo', a bit too masculine. Katherine was a bit more the male type in her manners, but she was also a very feminine woman, and that was missing the entire film. That, and the whole performance never came off as entirely 'real'. I think she could've done better, if she'd just had another director.

Overall, the film is so not worth the nominations... [kicks academy members]

Can't get anything right.

Not still holding a grudge for not nominating Sean Astin in 2004, oh no, not at all.

Okay, I'll agree with you on that.

..especially the Sean thing..

I have lost all faith in the Academy, it's a bollocks award show.
