Life, movies and stuff.

I finally got to see 'Brokeback Mountain' yesterday. Caught it with Isil80 and beluga. We all liked it, though I have to admit I did feel it suffered under Ang Lee's need to drag stuff out, but it was still beautifully done, and the cinematography was wonderful. It didn't grab me in tha same way it seems to have grabbed most of my flist, I didn't cry, but I felt for them. The acting was superb, and I can fully understand all the awards talk, if this movie doesn't walk away with some kind of Oscar I'll be astounded.
I have to say that it is my favourite Ang Lee film so far.
I remember discussing this film with JC's boyfriend right before I came home for christmas, he was so happy that there was finally a film where homosexuals were portrayed like "normal" people instead of the feminine comic relief or the leather clad freak, and I totally agree with him, even more so after watching the film.
Now I haven't read the story, but I would have liked to see a little more about how this affected the wifes in the story, we get to know Alma to some extent and I kind of wanted more from her point of view.
Anyway, I hope there will be more films that can handle the theme and stories like this with the same kind of care that this film showed us was possible.

Not long till I have to return to London now.. about a week, I leave next Sunday. Part of me is looking forward to get started again, because now we'll actually start shooting our film, though that is also what I'm most nervous about. On the other hand I would like to stay home a little longer, will be over there for 8 weeks now, then a week in Poland before I get home. Kind of scary to think that I'll be finished with everything in May and that my graduation's in July!

I got tagged by beluga
Ground Rules: The first player of this "game" starts with the topic "5 Guilty Pleasures" and people who get tagged need to write an LJ entry about their 5 Guilty Pleasures as well as state this rule. In the end, you need to choose the next 5 people to be tagged and list their names.
1. Ackles/Jackman/Wood...
2. German crisps/chips, so jummy. Stupid Lidl stopped selling them here.
3. Internett, I could spend the whole day online, no problem.
4. Tv shows, some crappy, some good. Right now "Supernatural" is nr.1, and it's good.
5. Going to various conventions where I can catch a glimpse of my fave stars.
I'm tagging:

I saw 'Wrong Turn' on Wednesday, another bad scary movie, but I found it much better than 'Cabin Fever'. This one at least got me a bit stressed, and I actually kind of cared about some of the characters. Though I must admit I've never been a fan of the 'out-in-the-middle-of-nowhere-chased-by-creepy-locals-and-the-cops-are-all-morons-and-the-locals-are-sweaty-nasty-looking-people-with-missing-teeth' kind of scary movies. I have to say that I feel about 'Wrong Turn' rather similar to what I felt after the remake of 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'. It stressed me, and I did yell at the screen, because people in these movies are always so fucking stupid. It's not a good movie, but I guess it works the way it's supposed to.

After that I figured I should watch something a little nicer, so I watched 'Danny the Champion of the World' which was very sweet. I remember loving this film when I was a kid, and figured it might be a bit childish now, but it's very sweet and endearing. It's a very simle story, based on a novel by Roald Dahl. One of his more 'normal' stories. ;)
It's the kind of film the whole family can watch together, withouth having the sexual innuendos to amuse the parents.

Right now, at this very moment, beluga and I are working on each our laptop. She's been reading "Supernatural" fics and is trying to find out if the laptop they use on the show belongs to Sam or Dean.

Elijah Wood is 25 years old today. *Throws confetti*

What else... we've been watching some "Sledge Hammer!"; The adventures of a dumb police detective who always looks for the most violent solution to any problem. Armed only with a Magnum, grenades, several Uzi machine-guns, and a bazooka, our hero singlehandedly makes the streets safe again for law-abiding citizens.
It's an 80s TV-show, that I loved as a kid. Was one of those very silly shows that I'd run home to see, kind of the same scenario as with "The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr". We saw 3 episodes last night. It's still funny, because now I get jokes that I most likely didn't catch when I was a kid.
Sledge is kind of the same type as Tackleberry from 'Police Academy', so that'll hopefully give a good mental picture for those who haven't seen the series.

Think I'll stop now. Have a nice evening everyone!
