Pleasant Illusion of Domesticity

Last night I went over to Katie and Adam's to babysit Abby the recently fixed puppy. As it turns out, Jordan was there to keep me company. We watched TV after Katie and Adam left until we got too hungry to do anything but look for food. Finally, I found some Hamburger Helper and milk and beef, so dinner was decided. One problem... the beef was frozen whole and we only wanted a pound of it (interject some comment of preparation before freezing here). So, I got out some knives and tried to get Jordan to cut it for me. When his attempts failed we searched for other ways to cut it without defrosting the whole thing. Jordan hit on the idea of using Katie's Sawzall... After numerous stipulations of mine had been answered, he proceded to cut the beef. Several minutes later we were able to defrost the correct amount. After dinner, we cleaned up the kitchen, a peace offering in case Katie was upset at the use of her saw. Then we settle back to watch TV and wait for them to get off of work. Jordan and I stayed up with Adam after Kaite went to bed watching Stargate and generally being nerdy. Its the closet I've come to having an "evening at home" since I've been to college. Shoulda known power tools would be involved...

In other news, Alex is going to illustrate "The Puppy Who Grew Wings". I'm excited about that.
