Fun in the sun...finally
Whoever said getting there was half the fun lied. We had breakfast at 8:30 in Hillsboro, and left for DFW. We got at the airport 2 hours early for our flight. We parked in long term parking and got a shuttle to the airport. Our driver was hysterical. He was Kenyan and said "Yee-haw" and "Let's rock and roll." about every 3 seconds. When we got checked in we discovered that our plane was delayed 2 hours, making us 4 hours early to our flight. My dad tried to get us changed to a different filght, but they were all full. 2 hours late turned into 2 and a half, and by the time we got to LA, they had closed the doors to our next flight. This was because while the 2 gates were numbered 71b and 68, they were actually about a half mile apart. So, we had a nice "discussion" with the customer service guy, named Osama, and eventually got another flight to Maui-on another airline-a five minute walk away. So, we stood in line, got rechecked in, went through the metal detector, got frisked, and finally made it on the plane. We got into Maui at 8:30, or 2:30 our time.
Today we went swimming at the beach around the corner from where we are staying and snorkeling at a beach a few miles away. The first thing we saw when we got in was a giant sea turtle about as long as I am! Tomorrow we are going on a long snorkeling trip and should see more turtles.
