Cultural Accomplishments

► The heat did break yesterday evening, and we had a nice cool breeze wafting through the apartment for several hours. The odd part is that today has been much sunnier and brighter than it's been in almost a week, despite the much cooler temperature.

It's been a really lazy, and draggy day today, and I think it must be because of the sudden drop in heat, humidity, and presumably the air pressure too. I suppose not falling asleep until almost 8:00am didn't help either... If I have any intelligence at all (and that's been debatable the past couple of weeks), I'll go to bed at a decent hour tonight, and not pull another all-nighter.

► For the past week all I've heard about have been the Olympics and the new Mars Rover. It's nice that even if for a brief time in our celebutante/reality TV culture, people are becoming famous for accomplishing positive things, and not who they're sleeping or may or may not be feuding with.

MASN Now: Doc implores nation to stop this senseless war against pubic hair - From the article:Physician Emily Gibson, health center director at Western Washington University, says she’s seen the consequences of shaving, waxing and laser hair removal firsthand - and they’re not pretty. Boils, abscesses, infections and an increased risk of STDs are consuming our overgroomed genitalia.
So there. Of course there are the requisite douchébags in the comment section. "Boo hoo, body hair is icky!" We really seem to live in an era where people have become prissy bitches.

9gag: Movies Recipes - They don't call them movie formulas for nothing.

CinemaBlend: Dumb And Dumber Sequel Still Happening, Says Jeff Daniels - I'm still on the fence over whether making a sequel to is brilliant or idiotic. Although, come to think of it, it could be both.

CinemaBlend: Fox Doesn't Want To Give Up Galactus, Marvel Studios To Get Daredevil Back? - Of course the article ends by trashing the 2003 Daredevil movie. I still think it was a pretty good movie, particular the director's cut version.

EW Inside TV: Richard E. Grant cast in this year's 'Doctor Who' Christmas special - While I'm really looking forward to the new series of Doctor Who, I'm still disappointed that they're giving us yet another early 20s moon-eyed 21st Century English girl companion to fall in love and pine for the Doctor. I would very much prefer a change of pace like the Doctor in a buddy adventure comedy. The over-reliance on romantic tension since the 2005 relaunch is mind numbing.

Happle Tea: Second Place - Well, when you look at it that way...

Quote of the Moment

Mrs. Moncaster: Are you a single gentleman, sir?
Dr. Wilfred Glendon: Singularly single, madame. More single than I ever realized that it was possible for a human being to be.
