► Living with a cat for 2 weeks has been interesting, to say the least. Dogs are so easy to read, but cats seem to be naturally enigmatic.

For the most part Stormy has been a very good cat. He's not mean tempered or vicious. Generally he's fairly calm if curious, and likes to explore. Every so often, however, his eyes dilate extremely wide, and he seems to burst with energy and mania, running, jumping, climbing, and getting into incredible mischief. Keeping him off of the counters, kitchen table, and fireplace mantel has become a challenge. So much so that at times I've felt very guilty feeling like I'm this poor cat's jailer, chasing and spraying him repeatedly with a water bottle.

There have been one or two nights when he's gotten really difficult and I've felt overwhelmed, worrying about the added expenses, and the responsibility of taking care of the health and well being of an animal that could conceivable be with me for the next 20 years. That said, I don't regret adopting him, and still think he's a sweet, cute little guy, even if he won sit on my lap or lay on my bed with me . The night I brought him home he surprised me by jumping up and sleeping on my chest for an hour and a half while I lay in bed watching a movie. That hasn't happened since, but I suppose that's because he's now more comfortable in the apartment and has acclimated to his new home. I suppose there's also going to be a bit of time for him to fully warm up to us, though he does still occasionally rub up against and wrap his tail around my legs (granted that's usually when I'm in the kitchen and near his food).

I think I am getting the hang of things, and adjusting to my new life as a cat owner, though I'm expecting there to be bumps along the way. The thing I need to remember is that it's only been two weeks.

► Dad surprised me today by dropping by for a visit. He further surprised me by giving me his old digital camera, since his girlfriend Claire recently got a new one. That's great, to finally have my own camera, although there are 2 hitches. The first is that the USB cable to connect the camera to my computer has long since gone missing, and the second is that since it works for Claire's new camera, they kept the old memory card.

So while the camera works and is now mine, there's really not a lot I can do with it at the moment. Tis a shame.

► Last Saturday, May 5th, I went out with Dad to run a bunch of errands. The night before I received a private message on Facebook from my brother's ex-fiance Amanda telling me she had something at her flower shop that she thought I'd like, and that I could pick it up the next day. So Dad and I stopped at the flower shop and I went in. There was a charity yard sale going on in the parking lot outside her shop, and I was told she was out there. She was sitting at some long tables with her husband and there were a lot of people around. Before I could walk over her mother surprised me and we started chatting (it was the first time I had seen her in several years), and she called over to Amanda who waved and shouted that the thing was in the shop, and asked her mom to lead me in to get it.

Turns out that the item was a double sided cardboard 22" x 28" Diesel cologne ad with Captain America! It's a very cool poster, and I'm really glad and thankful to Amanda for giving it to me. Unfortunately with the crowds there and in a bit of a hurry, I didn't go back to the parking lot to personally thank her, and only did so on Facebook later that evening. I've been feeling guilty about that ever since.
