Is Everyone Sick And/Or In Pain?

Oct 02, 2011 16:20

► Last night was miserable. Around 5:00am I was suddenly aware that my stomach had bloated and was in pain along with feeling sick with nausea. Adding to that, I started having signs of vertigo, feeling dizzy and disorientated. Both systems eventually started easing up, though, after I was finally able to get some sleep several hours later.

Since I've had a few sneezing fits today, along with some coughing bouts and some mild general physical malaise, I'm wondering if I might have a bit of a cold or some other bug that I'm fighting. This has been a weird day.

► Speaking of weirdness, my younger sister called the apartment this morning at around 8:30am. She seemed a bit out of it, and told me she had been "hospitalized" yesterday because of a seizure. Shocked and worried, I couldn't really piece together what was wrong, but she said she was looking for Dad or Dean to drive to her town and help with the kids for a few days. I said that Dean was finally going back to work tomorrow, so she said she'd try calling Dad or our brother (good luck with that) and then ended the phone call.

After waiting 10 minutes, I called Dad myself and he said that my sister hadn't called. I told him everything she said to me and we ended the conversation so he could call her himself. Waiting another 15 minutes, I called him back and finally found out the whole story. It seems that my sister, Brett, pulled out her back on Friday playing with her kids on the floor. Her back "seized" up (no seizure) and she only went to the ER yesterday (no being "hospitalized") and was given an injection and pain killers (which explained the entire phone call from her). She needed help because she can't really move and has to stay bedridden while Jeremy (her fiance) has work, so my Aunt Jan (who lives in the nearby city of Kingston) will be taking the kids today until Jeremy gets back from work, and Dad would be making the 1:30 drive today and stay to help until tomorrow night.

So that's it. Here's hoping she gets better soon.

Perptual Kid: Doomed Crystal Skill Shot Glass - Now I know I don't drink alcohol, but man do I want this shot glass!

Fasionably Geek: Dark Helmet [Cosplay] - This is probably the best cosplay I've seen all year.

Shirtoid: T.A.R.D.I.S. Prime T-shirt - I love the bow-tie. It's the little details that make things go from good to sublime.

10 Star Trek Episodes We’re Glad They Never Filmed - The "He Walked Among Us" episode synopsis actually sounds pretty good (even if it's a plot they've used several times), but the idea of casting Milton Berle and sticking in a bunch of his tired schtick is just horrifying.

Similarly, the "I.Q. Test" plot sounds interesting and possibly fun, but naming the games the "Q-Olympics" is just incredibly lame and groan inducing.

6 sci-fi and fantasy film franchises that cry out for prequels - They don't exactly say it, instead going for a more nebulous vague notion of examining some of Middle Earth's mythology, but I've been saying for years that I would absolutely love it if they did a full movie based on the rise and fall of Sauron that's shown all too briefly in the prologue at the start of the Fellowship of the Rings film. Seriously, you can have Sauron gain control, him passing out all the party favour rings to the human, dwarf and elf leaders (all those rings that the One Ring rules), and then his going full world domination mode and his defeat. I would love to see that as a trilogy.

LYNX - Rules to Rugby - I still don't understand how they score or earn points, but I think I now love Rugy.
