Shut Up Nerves!

► All the recent stresses and worries are getting to me because I've been feeling shell-shocked all day. I just cannot relax or calm down. The worries keep dripping as my nerves are running like a leaky faucet. Having to go out tomorrow morning seems to be escalating everything. This is not a happy happy fun time.

► Amazon.ca you crafty bugger. For four months I wait for my Showcase Presents Green Lantern Vol 5 tradepaperback, and for four months I got occasional pseudo updates informing me I'd have to wait longer. Then, finally, when I've tired of the waiting and go to cancel the order, that's when the book is finally listed as shipping soon.

Making this even more bizarre is that there's usually a 2 day wait once a book ships (out of Concord near Toronto). Well last evening it shipped, and early this morning UPS was here with it. That was fast. Four months of the tortoise, one night of the hare.

Even more shocking is that the book is in fairly pristine condition. After all that waiting I did not expect that.

► In chat, regarding the dark redesigned Man of Steel Superman costume:Matt: With Superman's new costume
Matt: What's Bizarro gonna look like
Derek: Christopher Reeve?
Top 25 Best Moments of the (Old) DC Universe - I'm actually surprised with their pick for number 1, mostly because I expected this to almost be "Top 25 Best Batman Moments of the (Old) DC Universe." But then I'm bitter. The Death of Superman was by far the biggest news event ever in the history of the comic book industry, so I agree with the selection.

Cracked: The 5 Most Depraved Sex Scenes Implied by 'Harry Potter' - It's hard to argue against this list when I had the same concerns regarding each instance when reading the books. As loathsome and hateful as Umbridge may be, assuming she was raped by the centaurs paints the teases of Hermione, Ginny and Ron in the infirmary as surprisingly callous. It's a frilly pink wearing Torquemada in the Jodie Foster role in The Accused.

Moonfruit Comics: Unecessary Sequels - That's possibly the wisest thing I've ever heard regarding movie sequels...

THE LISTS: Top 10 most anticipated films of the 2011-2012 Oscar season - And the only ones I'm interested in seeing on the list are The Artist and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, mostly because I know next to nothing about all the other films. Also I'm incapable of interest in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Everything I've read about the books presents it as being rife with the author's personal venting and Mary Sue-ism. He just sounds like a kinkier European Dan Brown to me

A few months back there was a long article in an issue of Vanity Fair excerpted from a book written by Stieg Larsson's widow in which she paints a picture of a Herculean iconoclastic writer who was equal parts Che Guevara and John the Baptist, bringing down a society filled with intellectually inferior morons, save for themselves of course. It was the single most self-aggrandizing bit of claptrap I have ever had the misfortune of reading in it's entirety.

I expect this is an incredibly controversial opinion.

The Oatmeal: The Terrible C-Word - I dunno, this amuses me. Actually, I don't find the C-word all that bad. To me it depends on the context of the usage (calling a woman it is a no-no to me). Not that I'd use it in mixed company.

Quote of the Moment

Mugatu: The man has only one look, for Christ's sake! Blue Steel? Ferrari? Le Tigra? They're the same face! Doesn't anybody notice this? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!
