► Another day passes, still anxious and uneasy. It'll pass in time. At least that stress headache and the dizziness haven't been as bad today. Of course, I slept most of the afternoon and evening, so that helped things.
The weather was strange today. Well, what I saw of it. It's been fairly hot and very humid all week, but this morning we started getting a nice cool breeze. It really helped cool things down enough that I turned off my box fan. Then, around 8:00am we had a massive torrential rainfall. The rain was coming down hard and just beating the windows. This went on for less than an hour before stopping. The heat then started to pick up again and it wasn't long before the pavement outside was drying.
A few of hours later, the rain picked up again, this time even harder. The rain was so strong that visibility was almost nonexistent outside, everything seemingly covered by a falling wall of white water. When the thunder and lightning started I shut the computer down (which was fine since I had spent most of the morning watching
Wonder Woman episodes anyway).
Eventually I dozed off in the early or mid afternoon. When I awoke it was almost 10:00pm, and the heat and humidity had returned. Looking outside you can't see any evidence of the rain from earlier. Funny how quickly the weather can change.
► A couple of my Canada Post lockout delayed packages have arrived this week. One yesterday, and one today. I'm hoping that the final three packages mailed before the June 15th lockout arrive this week. They should, since they were mailed before the package I received yesterday. Actually, I'm starting to get really worried about one of the packages in particular, my
Captain America and
Green Lantern tin signs, because it was mailed a full week before the postal shut down and the item I received yesterday.
I know it's just a matter of time, and there are still 2 days left this week, but each day that passes makes me worry more that something has happened to my stuff. Oddly, I don't seem as worried about the more expensive package which also should have arrived by now. I suppose all of this could be chalked up to the post-lockout mail service still attempting to get back on schedule.
When I went to check the mail this afternoon, it was 12:25pm, and the mailman usually arrives around 12:10 - 12:15. Unlocking the apartment mailbox there inside was the small package I received today. It was then that I noticed something balled up in the otherwise empty waste basket on the floor. It was a filled out "failure to answer" postal service notice card, addressed to me, and with "no answer" check marked. Obviously it was filled out by the mailman and then discarded when he was able to fit the package in the mailbox, so it's a moot point, but I was here and he hadn't buzz the apartment. Usually when the mailman himself has a package for me he buzzes when he enters the building. It's what he did yesterday when my other package arrived. I wonder, was it a different mailman, did he not press the buzzer hard enough, or did he just not want to have to see me descend the stairs in my grumby pajamas and exchange pleasantries? It's only an issue if this happens while I'm actually here and get a notice because I can't always get to the post office myself. You know... that whole agoraphobia thing.

If South Park Were Real - Great bunch of drawings, although I'm surprised that the site has
Tweek mislabeled as
Butters, and Butters mislabeled as "Bradley" (I've no idea who that is).
Butters is my favourite
South Park character.

The Darth Vader Hairdryer - When I first saw the photo I thought it was a
Darth Vader megaphone, which would be a genius invention. Bit disappointing knowing it's just a hairdryer.

Jessica Rabbit Art Collection - A small fan art gallery of
Jessica Rabbit, the sexiest animated character every created. Seriously, is there anyone who thinks
Betty Boop is hotter?

Transformers Dark Of the Moon: 10 Things Fure Liked, 10 Things Hunter Didn’t - As with every
Michael Bay flick,
Transformers: Dark of the Moon is massively flawed. However, I did enjoy it. While I agree with a lot of complaints listed in the article (inconsistencies in the plot, Sam's troubles and role in the film being nonsensical,
Ken Jeong and
John Turturro's monstrously obnoxious over-the-top lunatic characters, etc.; I also thought the
Transformers themselves seemed little more than background characters for most of the film as it focused on all the boring human melodrama) there was a lot of stuff I did like.
First and foremost, I think
Shockwave was awesome, and probably the most impressive and easily the coolest robot in the film. Lunatic over acting aside, I like that they downplayed the sophomoric comic relief of the first 2 films (no robot pee or testicles in this one).
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley I thought handled her role very well, and I liked her much more than
Megan Fox because she seem surprisingly more relatable and down to earth (surprising for a Victoria's Secret supermodel, although I agree Bay seemed to shoot her as if she was a slab of steak in a steakhouse commercial). I actually did like
Alan Tudyk as Dutch. Finally, I liked that this film actually brought back more of the older franchise mythology and characterizations, most of which was absent from the first two films.
But yeah, Shockwave was awesome.
Quote of the Moment
Bele: It is obvious to the most simple minded that Lokai is of an inferior breed.
Mr. Spock: The obvious visual evidence, commissioner, is that he is of the same breed as yourself.
Bele: Are you blind, Commander Spock? Well look at me. Look at me!
Capt. Kirk: You are black on one side and white on the other.
Bele: I am black on the right side!
