► This weekend has been strangely confusing. This past Thursday I kept feeling/thinking it was Friday. On Friday I kept feeling/thinking it was Saturday. And all today I've felt and thought it was Sunday. Granted, all that is essentially meaningless to someone who doesn't work and rarely goes out. I guess everything is a Saturday in my private world (although some days have postal delivery, some don't).
► That was a nice surprise. Dean went to Ottawa for the day, shopping with her friend Kim who's in town visiting. When they got back Dean called out saying that she had bought me something. I was in the kitchen and she walked in with something behind her back. It was a
Pop Heroes Green Lantern vinyl figurine, and it is adorable. Apparently they only had him and Robin, and that she had passed it up but decided she couldn't not buy it for me as it was too cute so she did. It is adorable. Just not sure where to put him right now...

Shia LaBeouf: Hollywood's Last Bad Boy - A lot is always made about
Shia LaBeouf being some sort of
Holden Caulfield-like rebel who plays by his own rules, doesn't stand for bullshit and phoniness and is bulldog determined. Actually, to me he comes off as having a serious Napoleon complex coupled with a hair-trigger temper, seeing insults and personal attacks everywhere and lashing out like a violent lunatic. He seems to run hot and wailing-fists-of-overreacting-fury. Seriously, how many times are we going to hear about him getting into a spat, escalating it, and then jumping and wailing on a guy, or pulling a knife?

Images from Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol - I don't really know the girl in
the new Mission: Impossible movie (Wikipedia says her name is
Paula Patton), but she is smokin'!

The 10 Most Anticipated Films of 2013 - Yeah it's ridiculously early to be touting movies 2 years away (even the author admits that), but of the films listed here I really want to see
Monsters University,
The Hobbit: There and Back Again, and
Pacific Rim. Most of the others do sound fun or compelling though.
►
Jason Statham, Vinnie Jones to open LA fish and chip shop - I haven't had fish and chips in a few years... could really go for some. But yeah, that's a headline you don't really expect.

12 Homemade Life-Size Transformers - From chat:JR: hey some of those are really neat
Derek: seriously, I win the lottery I'm commissioning a full sized Optimus Prime to stand in my backyard (I plan to buy a house)
JR: LOL
Derek: neighbours be damned
JR: haha

CollegeHumor: Female Armor Sucks - For all the snark and complaints
Red Sonja gets for her chain mail bikini, she actually wears much more armour than
Conan traditionally does. "Ohh! Right in the shiny part!"
Note: I intended to embed the actual video, but LiveJournal must not like CollegeHumor.com because it just left a large blank area instead of the actual video.

The 10 Legitimate Movie-Related Reasons to Hate Nicolas Cage - I must be insane or something because
Cage's erratic, bizarre and seemingly nonsensical choices in films was one of the reasons I like the guy. Sure, I like the original
Wicker Man and have zero interest in ever seeing
the remake, but I'm actually glad it exists somewhere for this reason:

To the author of the above article, I say lighten up. Seriously, why do so many modern viewers seem incapable of appreciating a master ham? It's not like Cage is just a ham, he's done far too many emotionally affecting and dramatically nuanced roles to be considered a bad actor. Me, I'll continue to appreciate the cheese along with the art. And I want to see
Season of the Witch.
Quote of the Moment
Wayne: [enters gas station] Where's the First Presbyterian Church on Gordon Street?
Bad Actor: Uh...
Wayne: Gordon Street, Gordon Street!
Bad Actor: Uh, Gordon Street! Oh yeah, Gordon Street! Uh, I once knew a girl who lived on Gordon Street. But that was a long time ago. When I was young.
Wayne: [looks at camera] Do we have to put up with this? I mean, can't we get a better actor? I know it's a small part, but I think we can do better than this.
[person from set crew comes in and replaces actor with Charlton Heston]
Good Actor/Charlton Heston: Gordon Street? Ah, yes, Gordon Street. I once knew a girl who lived on Gordon Street. Long time ago, when I was a young man. Not a day passes I don't think her and the promise that I made which I will always keep. That one perfect day on Gordon Street. That's uh, five blocks up, two over.
Wayne: [choking back tears] Thank you.
