► Holy crap, is it cold this morning! Right now it's 10 degrees Celsius, 50 degrees Fahrenheit. It's supposed to get warmer this afternoon, but as of right now I'm shivering and my left leg feels icy. Mind you, I'll take this over the oppressively unbearable summer swelter.
► The case manager for Dean's short term disability claim finally called me back this morning. The claim was approved and she'll finally get the insurance money. Thank goodness. I hope it shows up in direct deposit today so I can stop hearing about it.
► Dad popped over yesterday after 6:00pm. He dropped off a movie for Dean and brought be a weirdly shaped French wine bottle. I don't think I've mentioned it in a long time but I have an odd love of glass and used to collect interestingly shaped or coloured wine bottles, several of which I still have. I also have other glass knick knacks too.
After looking something up online for him, Dad mentioned that he'd be busy and wouldn't be able to take me on our weekly outing until Thursday. He asked if I had a list of groceries I needed and then left and picked up the items for me. I couldn't go out as I'd eaten an apple earlier and I currently can't leave the apartment if I've eaten at least 12 hours before hand. Usually it's 24 hours. I've become even more neurotic in the past couple of years.

Johnny Depp's 'Lone Ranger' Seeks To 'Reinvent' Tonto, Native American Treatment - American Indians got a crap deal in reality and in Hollywood, but I don't think
Tonto was ever anything but a positive heroic role model. I understand the point but to make a
Lone Ranger movie where the
Lone Ranger is possibly a foolish sidekick to Tonto sounds ridiculous. Would anyone really want to watch a
Batman movie where he's a sidekick and
Robin is the true competent hero?
As a one off Lone Ranger/Tonto movie, okay, but my fear is that the film will completely miscolour the history of the characters with audiences only ever seeing the Ranger as an idiot and Tonto as the real brains. Sort of how people view the
Green Hornet as incompetent and
Kato as not only the muscle but also the brains now.

When actors transform into real life characters -
Philip Seymour Hoffman may have won the Best Actor Oscar for playing
Truman in
Capote, but for my money
Toby Jones was even better as in
Infamous. Hoffman played Capote, Jones was Capote.

10 Major Comics Events that Actually Mattered - I don't understand why
Crisis on Infinite Earths isn't number one. It's the event that linked
DC Comics into
one shared universe and is the starting point for not just most of the DC events to follow (
including 3 they have listed ahead of it), but is also the model for all event stories, period.Derek:
One More Day makes me think of
Peter as the kind of guy who stops at nothing to keep his dog or cat alive despite the pain and inhumanity of prolonging it's miserable existence in a poor quality of life
Derek: "Must keep
Aunt May alive at all costs!"
Derek: meanwhile Aunt May is whispering "kill.... meeee...."
Matt: yes, but they did it in such a way that it was really
MJ's fault
Matt: Thus is the magic of
JMSDerek: the douche

Quote of the Moment
Lt. Steven Hauk: First of all, don't make fun of the weather here, and don't say the weather is the same all the time here. Because it's not. In fact, it's two degrees colder today than yesterday.
Adrian Cronauer: Two degrees colder, me without my muff.
