Thanks For The Heads Up

► Frustrated with my brother tonight. I had a nice time today, shopping with Dad followed by barbequed burgers and watching a couple of movies. That was spoiled when my brother called me there after 9:00pm to tell me that "someone" from the pension office called and left a message for me at his house. I asked what the message was but he exasperatedly said he didn't know and would have to listen to 7 messages on his machine to find out. He then said that there have been calls for me there from the pension office in the past, but he's never told me before.

Finding that out now has me terrified about what might be wrong and if I'm in trouble or there is some horrible problem. I'm also annoyed and confused about it because I've been living here at my apartment for almost 3 years and they've had my proper phone number all this time. In fact, they called me here 2 months ago. Dean suggested that it sounded like someone unrelated to my case picking the first name out of the phone book and calling them (my brother and I sharing initials).

Scared and worried, I called up the office this evening to leave a number for the receptionist asking for them to call me back here to set up a new appointment. And, to inform them that I haven't been getting whatever messages they've left on my brother's answering machine. This is going to be keeping me up all night.

► During the first 3 months of the year I got a grand total of 3 DVDs. For me, and my DVD addiction, that's shocking. In one day I tripled that amount, although most are second hand.

This morning UPS dropped off my Doctor Who: Series 5 package (1 day after ordering it, score!). In the afternoon Dad and I went into Blockbuster to browse before getting groceries and I picked up 2 DVDs for their "2 at $14.99 or less for $20" deal. Finally, when we got to his place, Dad asked me if I wanted any of his DVDs (I guess to pare down his collection a bit before they move to their condo later this year) and gave me six.

In total I got:Amazon.ca
Doctor Who: Series 5

Blockbuster 2-for-$20
Midnight Run (1988)
Red (2010)

Secondhand from Dad
All of Me (1984)
The Count of Monte Cristo (2002)
The Cheap Detective (1978)
Moscow on the Hudson (1984)
Knight and Day (2010)
Down and Out In Beverly Hills (1986)
60 Completely Unusable Stock Photos - Sometimes weird isn't fun or creative. Sometimes weird is just weird.

10 Best Sci-fi Shows Canceled After One Season - Numbers 8 through 10 would be on my list (if I made one). God I loved Kolchak: The Night Stalker. Darren McGavin was a treasure.

Russia Has Responsible Children’s Programming - Needless to say (but I'm saying it anyway) children's shows were a lot different here in Canada when I was growing up. I never saw such amazing swaying boob on Today's Special or Polka Dot Door.

► If I ever eventually get my own dog, I want either a Pembroke Welsh Corgi or a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Because I'm such a girl.

Quote of the Moment

Narrator: "The impulse had become irresistible. There was only one answer to the fury that tortured him. And so he committed his first act of murder. He had broken the most deep-rooted taboo, and found not guilt, not anxiety or fear, but freedom. Any humiliation which stood in his way could be swept aside by the simple act of annihilation: Murder."
- Tenebre (1982)
