► Peppermints. What do I have to do to get some? A few weeks ago my older sister bought a back of peppermints and put them in a dish in the front room. They had helped sooth my nerves a bit when I took a couple last week when I out while feeling lightheaded and week, so I figured I'd buy a couple of bags and have a stock of them to have when I go out.
I've checked several supermarkets, dollar stores and department stores and can't find any. There were bags of some cheap ones at Walmart that I passed up on last week. I bought 2 bags of them yesterday only to find they're the waxy kind you have to chew, and not the hard glossy ones you suck.
They're just peppermints! Criminy.
► Since we only have 1 small bookstore (not counting 1 or 2 tinier used book shops) in this city of 58,000, I have to wonder about the literacy of my fellow citizens. Went to
Coles at the waterfront mall yesterday. It's becoming a bit discouraging how they never have any movie books now other than the most current
Leonard Maltin's Movie Guide. It's also getting harder to buy
Discworld novels. They had about 7 or 8 of
the 38 novels in the series, and not one of the 8 I'm missing.
I'm just a little discouraged at how hard it can be to get stuff locally.
► Glancing at Google Maps tonight, I was surprised to find my apartment on the Google Street view. They must be photographing everywhere. It looks like the photos were taken either last summer since the folding chair is still placed on our deck, and all the deck chairs and decorations that the new tenants below us have put out are missing.
As I mentioned last month, we're no longer allowed to park along the front of the apartment's lawn because the new owner of the building across the street complained the cars blocked his from backing up. The previous owners didn't seem to have a problem given how big the lot is, and they're ability to maneuver a few transports, while parking cars at the end of the street. New owner just being a dick.
It's so cramped!
