CCI: Waid Takes Captain America "Out of Time" -
Mark Waid is fantastic, but haven't we already seen many stories showing
Cap waking up in more modern times? Most famously in
The Ultimates? This sounds like it's basically an out of continuity
What If/
Elseworlds story, so it's a bit hard to muster up much enthusiasm. But I guess it'll be a good tie in for next year's
Captain America movie, which I gather is the whole point.
Side note: I'm still really "meh" about the Ultimates series by
Mark Millar, even after 8 years. It had a lot of good stuff in it, but it mostly just read like Asshole
Avengers. Even Cap basically came off as a bit of a one dimensional "sir, yes sir!" good soldier prone to just beating and threatening people. Not the conscientious, rational, idealist, who uses violence when necessary, that he is in the Marvel Universe. That's my Cap.
Ah, I never seem to miss a chance to insult Mark Millar, do I?

Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Comic-Con Teaser Clip - Massive headache trying to get the clip to actually play as the video kept freezing up and strobing (audio was fine). Basically it's just
Depp in character describing
the movie.'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” by director Rob Marshall (Memoirs of a Geisha, Chicago) stars Johnny Depp (Sin City 3, Public Enemies), Ian McShane (Kung Fu Panda, Deadwood), Penelope Cruz and Geoffrey Rush.'
Whazzat? Great... I'm starting to have memory black outs.

Comic-Con video: Aaron Eckhart and Michelle Rodriguez talk 'Battle: Los Angeles' and geeking out -
Aaron Eckhart's a lifelong
Green Lantern fan? I may love him now.
I was going to make a joke about not knowing if I should be excited about
the movie because of Eckhart, or disappointed because I can't stand
Michelle Rodriguez (in anything post-
Girlfight). However, she seems like a really sweet gal. I just wish every movie and TV show she's in didn't have her playing
Private Vasquez from
Aliens.

that wasn't for long.

CCI: Superman The Man of Tomorrow Panel - What the-?'The last question went to Straczynski. The fan asked whether the writer plans on continuing the "Earth One" stories. The writer revealed that the hardcover release will be followed up with by single issues, which will later be collected.'
I thought the whole point of the
Superman: Earth One "original graphic novel" series was that it would be a series of original graphic novels. This makes me wonder what the point of it is.

CCI: Batman The Return -
Grant Morrison will be writing a new series called Batman, Inc which will set up many Batmen as
Bruce Wayne franchises the character. I think this sounds like a pretty good, interesting idea. For awhile now I've been saying I thought there should be more than one Batman once
Bruce Wayne returns and since
Dick Grayson has had the title in his absence. It just makes sense to me that Bruce would push Batman to seem omnipresent, especially in
Gotham City.
All that said, just how many more Batman series do we need?
Batman,
Detective Comics,
Batman and Robin,
Batman: Confidential,
Batman: Streets of Gotham, The Dark Knight (upcoming), Batman, Inc (upcoming),
Superman/Batman... And there's more satellite series. Meanwhile
Superman has seen his series cut down to 3, and he now only appears in 2 of them. One, of course, with Batman. When is DC going to reach Bat-over-saturation?
The
1989 Batman movie really slanted
DC Comics, didn't it?

CCI: Dunbier on "The Rocketeer" Anthology - That's some nice
