This Post Took How Many Hours To Finish?

► Why is it I never see blankets with satin/ribbon trim anymore? When I was growing up in the 70s and 80s all the blankets my parents, grandparents and basically everyone else had had that folded zig-zag stitched ribbon trim along the ends of the blankets. I haven't see any like that in... well, I guess decades.*

I miss those old blankets. Of course, when I was a kid I had a habit of absentmindedly picking at the trim stitching and ruining them, but still, I liked them.

* Holy shit! It's 2010!

► I was pain free today! Huzzah! Well... pain free in my jaw! It's about time. Let's keep this up, jaw joint.

► Went out with my paterfamilias this afternoon. Dad gave me an additional sheet of the latest Burger King coupons, so of course we got Subway for lunch. Three sheets of coupons and I haven't used one.

Stopped by the landlord's house and got receipts for Dean's and my individual shares of the rent for 2009, for tax purposes. Then went to Walmart (I only bought groceries! ...ok, junk food) and then the mall (I bought 4 discount DVDs!).

Last night I was actually starting to panic and worry about going out today. I was feeling sick from worry and nerves and didn't finally go to bed until after 6:00am this morning. I think I managed 3 hours of actual sleep, and it was fitful and not restful. Makes my feeling pain-free this afternoon and evening all the more happily surprising.

Sears, at the mall, has a new discount DVD stand. For the past couple of years all they've had is their table display with $7 DVDs (2 for $12). The new additional display has a mix of DVDs for $3, $6, $8 and $10. Oddly, they seem to be from the same supply (supplier) as the stock at Giant Tiger and Zellers, where they have bar-codes on the front set price tag stickers.

I picked up:► Daylight (1996)
Apollo 13 (1995)
Burn After Reading (2008)
National Treasure 2: Book Of Secrets (2007)
Dean was a tad irked (but not seriously), because she bought Burn After Reading when it was released a year ago at twice the price. You never know what you'll find discounted later.

Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths - Fight Clip - Well ok, I think I'm sold on this direct-to-DVD film. Evil Outsiders and Vixen and Elongated Man? Yeah, sign me up.

New Couple Alert? Lindsay Lohan has accepted 77 year old socialite Richard Lugner's invitation to be his date to the Vienna Opera Ball in Austria next month. - I can't decide what amuses me more: the schadenfreude of this being Lohan's most high profile "job" in a year, or that Lugner's wikipedia page was vandalized in February 2009 and his nickname changed to "Tosspot"... and no one's fixed it!

► Hey, did you happen to see the most beautiful girl in the world? That wasn't Jessica Rabbit at the Golden Globes on Sunday, it was Christina Hendricks. Took me a few days to track down the pictures, but I'm finally postin' 'em!

I once heard someone use this phrase to describe a cartoon woman, but I think it applies to Christina: if you bumped into her in a dark alley there would be no mistaking her for anything other than a woman.
