► Good evening Interwebs people.
I haven't been online much in the past few days (mostly just quick jaunts to check my Facebook games and emails) as I've been feeling rundown and fatigued. I think it's mostly nerves, but I suppose I might be coming down with something as I still feel really tired and I'm beginning to get a slight cough. Since
swine flu (H1N1) is
now in my city and has claimed it's first local fatality this past week, I've been told by friends to go to the hospital if I feel worse.
Even if I do get ill I don't know if I'd go to the hospital. I was sick in bed with the flu a year and a half ago, hallucinating from a high fever, yet I just stayed bundled up drinking lots of juice and watching DVDs. I'm still not convinced that swine flu is a plague of biblical or medieval proportion, as the media seems determined to promote it.
Still, if I was to get that sick I'll go. But really, I think it's just my nerves. I'll be fine.
► There have been some more books I've been anxious to get from Amazon.ca. Sunday night Dad gave me his consent so I ordered 5 of them (I'll pay him back on Friday). They shipped last night, and arrived just after 12:00 noon today. Deana had just left to go to an appointment when she called me on her cellphone. She was downstairs in the lobby with my box on the floor (the UPS guy showed up as she was leaving the building, she signed for the package). The reason she didn't bring it up the single flight of stairs to me is that the box was goddamn heavy. Figures given that 3 of the 5 items are large coffee table books and all are hardcovers.
Actually, I'm surprised she was able to sign for the package. I thought UPS had to bring it to your actual door, since for all the delivery guy knew she could have been anyone (she said I was her brother).
Anyway, I got:►
The DC Vault: A Museum-in-a-Book with Rare Collectibles from the DC Universe ($33 down from $70 in bookstores)
►
DC Comics Covergirls ($12.40 down from $50 cover price)
►
Gil Elvgren: All His Glamorous American Pin-Ups►
Harold Lloyd's Hollywood Nudes in 3D!►
Roy Stuart, Volume III'm slightly disappointed in the DC Vault since it has a heck of a lot less collectible stuff than the similiar
Marvel Vault (which I've look at in the bookstore). Still, it's neat to have. Also I feel a little sheepish about getting the
Roy Stuart book since it's art porn, and might look a little silly on my shelf with the others. Ah well, it was only $12.40 and it's huge. Seriously, the Stuart, Elvgren and DC Covergirls books could all be used as blunt instruments of death. Pretty ones, mind you.
► In chat:Kai: But it's not just about Daffyd, there are other characters too.
Derek: Welsh for and pronounced David?
Kai: welsh, yes. pronounced davith with the hard th like 'these'
Derek: Welsh is weird
Kai: it's actually phonetic once you get the hang of the different sounds.
Derek: at least Gaelic looks like a different language, Welsh just looks like it's written by someone with no spell check and a broken keyboard
Kai: LOL
► Watched
Killer Klowns From Outer Space this afternoon and loved it. But watching it made me wonder something. Did
John Vernon ever play a nice guy?
►
One Villain Only (?) for 'Spider-Man 4' -- Yes, it's The Lizard -
Spider-Man 3 had "too much", but am I wrong in thinking
Spider-Man 4 might have "too little"?
Would it kill
Raimi to finally give us
Bruce Campbell as
Mysterio?
►
Cinematical Seven: Good Actors in Bad Horror - Yes,
Dreamcatcher is a bad movie. But it's an incredibly entertaining one too. The high points for me go to
Damian Lewis and
Thomas Jane who both seemed to realize the movie was a stinker and decided to have a grand ol' scene chewing time. Love that movie!
► Sweet fancy Moses! I gotta find out who this
Suicide Girl is, so I can get more pics of her:
