The first icon is of Doctor Who villains the Daleks. It's a shared joke/cliche that British children watching Doctor Who in the 60s, 70s and 80s would hide behind the family couch when the Daleks (or other monsters or aliens) got too scary. I've seen reference to Dalek-couch hiding a lot online over the years.

Mind you, I'm Canadian and didn't grow up doing that. Actually, as a kid I was too scared to watch Doctor Who.
