After being rushed out of the facility, our humble narrator itties off to a little bar for a little peet. He then heads back to his pee and em, meets Joe (a boarder who lives in his old room), cries, and is yelled at (by Joe, who clearly has no clue what happened to Alex). He wanders back into the real world, never to talk to his parents again.

What's it going to be then, eh?
He's being isolated. He's been dropped into the real world to fend for himself, and now he has no one to trust.
Will someone save him? Will he find a coping mechanism for his new disability? Let's find out.

It is interesting to see how Joe treats him. Even though the government has assured the public that it works, Joe does not trust Alex. How is he to get a job, or live a normal life if no one will trust him?
