Phase Two (backdated to early this morning)

[It's very early morning, before the Milkman has started making his rounds, and Zevran is already awake. He's got a number of preparations to make...]

(OOC Note: Following the events of this post, Zevran will be waking up droned the morning after for his arguably spoilery? canon update! He will be droned for 24 hours; people can do what they like

[Having seen to his housemates to what degree he can, Zevran has moved to the roof with his sniper rifle, and is currently settled on the side of it out of sight of the street, carefully checking to make sure the rifle is properly loaded and prepared. He's left the blades Olivier had made for him in his room, figuring that he'd have no chance to use them if it came to that - though he did bring his hunting knife just in case, currently tucked into his belt. He's not really nervous - even with the knowledge that he's probably going to die shortly; the way Sniper talked about the men in charge of Mayfield, it sounds as though he won't have any chance at all - just anticipatory. He's listening for the sound of a motor...]

[The Milkman makes his rounds, as he always has; as he always does; as he always will. There is milk to be delivered, and that is his job.

If he's noticed anything amiss as he parks the van and steps out, he doesn't show it.]

[Zevran waits until he hears the van stop, then counts a few beats before he straightens up, smoothly bringing his rifle to bear. He aims - quickly, but not hurriedly - and fires. Twice in quick succession, with the second bullet being entirely for good measure.

He knows he should be thinking positively, and in his mind he's certainly visualizing successful hits, but in the pit of his gut, he's never truly believed this will work.]

[The bullets thud into the lawn behind where The Milkman had been standing.

Behind him on the roof, someone breathes.]

[This is, almost exactly, what Sniper had told him about - granted, he'd been talking about Grady and the Mayor at the time, but Zevran had been operating on the assumption that the milkman probably worked in much the same way.

Having expected this in advance does absolutely nothing to make it less unsettling to see the milkman suddenly vanish from his sights...to say nothing of the years it takes off Zevran's life to hear breathing behind him. Depending on the milkman's next move, it may take all of the years off his life.

He spins around, a hand already flying to his belt and the hilt of his hunting knife.]

[Zevran catches a glimpse, a flash, of a smiling man in a white outfit inches away from his face.

And then he is Milkman Droned for 12 hours, and sees nothing more.]
