I've been trying to give my Anomalies chars personality flaws 'cause we all have them. Except I like Kit too much so I'm having trouble giving him real character flaws, hehe. And I was all... okay so he's the type to go to Uni and study literature... but why? Why would anyone actually want to do this? What's the alure? I know Joy loves this stuff but but but why? I DON'T UNDERSTAND!
And then I started thinking about how I like to pull characters apart - which I feel is important both in character creation in writing, and character performing in acting, and that got me thinking about method acting, which I personally think some actors take way too far, even if I agree with it in principal and all of a sudden it all came to me!
It's like someone who likes to pull part machines just so they can see how they work. For Joy the machine is literature. For me the machine is characters.
Which is kinda weird when you think about it, because I'm not a people person whatsoever, but then, maybe that's the whole reason why I like to pull characters apart and get into their heads to see how they think. Because I prefer to look below the surface of different characters rather than look below the surface of books I enjoy reading.
And that is why, when I end up finishing my Anomlies story "The Triggered" you will get more from trying to understand my characters than trying to look for messages in the story that simply are not there. *nods*
On a side note: I once seriously considered becoming a psychiatrist. I didn't because it required going to medical school, and I don't think I would have survived at Uni let alone med school, heh.
BTW, Joy? I still think you're nuts, but you probably think I'm nuts, so we're even, hehe. And if you don't think I'm nuts then all I have to say to you is this: You've know me for how many years now and you don't think I'm nuts? Even when we got matching Psycho Path shirts? Weirdo... :p
