Jakkal runs The Werehouse Avatars on SL. I know you all know of her. Her longterm partner passed away unexpectedly Monday morning. Being in his early 30's Bow did not have a formal will and Jakkal was not legally married to him despite over 10 years together. What state does she live in? Most states have a Common Law Marriage rule. 10 years would definitely meet that time rule.

Yeah, I just found all that out after I commented. That's dicked. Unfortunately, I can't help, since I'm trying to dig myself out of a financial hole due to college and the fact I'm not employed. I wish the best for her though, and hopes that his family isn't going to be a douchebag to her. :(

Look at the federal income tax and state income tax filings. If they were made declaring "Married" and the state accepts them as if they were married, then the state is legally accepting them as married.

And I tossed some into the hat.

I just talked to her about it. They never filed anything as married but she did find a copy of the cashier's check they BOTH signed that paid the down payment on the house. He also had a hand written "will" that was never signed or notarized stating that he wanted everything to go to her except 1 car he was giving to his folks. Hence the big fight over stuff. Families tend to only see $$ when an estranged member passes.
