My goodness, how amazing is the Mutantsounds blog?!!! I've only recently gotten into the mp3 blog game but I'm trying to make up for it by going thru every single mutantsounds post and d/ling whatever seems interesting. So far, I've gone thru all of January, February and March. The hard part is not even d/ling the ridiculous amounts of uploaded material but rather listening to all the tracks and giving them their proper consideration. I'm sure i've d/led a lot of gems that I haven't been able to appreciate upon cursory listen. I've tried to limit my d/ls to minimal synth/wave stuff (I'm not a big fan of noise and I'll listen to the prog stuff later) because otherwise, I'd have way too much music to got thru. The great thing about this blog (and other blogs like it) is that it reminds me that there really is an overabundance of great music out there and I'll never be able to listen to it all. Tonight, I'll be playing some of my fave cuts from the blog (so far) on East Village Radio. I'll be guesting on Ceci's show "Radio Heart" which goes on from 10pm-12 EST. If you like synthy/wavy stuff from the early 80s at all, I think you'll enjoy it.

YESTERDAY, I watched Bill Cosby's "Leonard Part 6", often called one of the worst movies ever made. Oh damn, it must be seen to be believed. Seriously, throughout the whole movie you'll find yourself saying one thing over and over: "What were they thinking?!" The part where the villain unleashes her "vegetarians" and Bill Cosby fights them off by performing ballet moves is beyond the beyond.

What else has happened recently? Well, I DJed Pecha Kucha NY. Even though all I played served as background music for all the chatter (literally Pecha Kucha means "the sound of conversation"), it was still nice to expose the crowd to my current dance music fixations, namely Belgian New Beat and EBM. I really need to learn more about dancey EBM/industrial, preferably without shouting overly Teutonic vocals! Those become a little grating after a while . . .
