Ephram visited the mess hall frequently, since sooner or later nearly everyone on the ship could be find there and he still had people to meet with as well as interview. So far he had seen a new face nearly every time he stopped by.

Today was not an exception. Ephram noticed a man watching the people come and go almost with the same eye he himself did. Figuring it wouldn't hurt to make another friendly acquaintance of someone so curious, he stopped by the table.

"Hello," he said with a standard pleasant smile. "Another people-watcher, I see, and a new face. Are you newly-arrived on the Enterprise?"

Looking up from his notebook, Roger gave the other man an appraising look. "Recent, yes," he said with a nod to his head. Starfleet uniform, but not a soldier. The man gave off an air of the bureaucrat.

He held out his hand. "Roger Korby. Please," he indicated the other man should sit.

Ephram nodded his thanks as he sat opposite this Roger Korby. The way Korby had given him that appraising look had pinged Ephram's Intel instincts, even more so than the usual desire in the back of his mind to fulfill his orders. This could prove interesting.

"Ephram Green," he said, providing just as much information as this man had. Each of them could look up the other's records for more. He acknowledged the man's notebook with an upward tilt of eyebrow. "Any interesting discoveries?"

"More that I can enumerate. I'm a researcher," he said modestly. Many Academy students who planned on careers in medicine were familiar with his work on forensic immunology, his writings being required reading.

Not all people were lucky enough to have access to that, the poor dears. "This ship is a traveling buffet for people like me."

"Much the same for me," Ephram said, "except I people-watch more as a hobby. Do you research anything in particular?"

[OOC - Aaaaargh, I suck at timely tagging, sorry!
