It had been a disappointment to learn that Starfleet had already sent someone on board to poke around, but, as Roger pointed out to the appropriate people, that was 'Intelligence' (such as they were) and not someone with his background in medicine and anthropology. What was the Intel grunt going to do, get data? Names and dates? What about the stories? Who was catagloging the essence of the people who'd arrived, their journeys, where they were from, how their bodies were adjusting to these new universes and timelines?

Why, yes, it would take time away from his precious work on Exo III, but if Starfleet needed him, then he'd gladly serve.

At least, that was the story that circulated. Success acheived when he looked down at the communique.

From: Admiral Marjorie LeDeaux, Starfleet Medical

Prof. Korby,

Per our previous conversation, you are instructed to report of USS Enterprise as soon as possible to begin documentation of the personal medical histories of the displaced persons on board. Our wish is not to disturb their new lives, rather to recover information about their native civilization, for the purpose of advancing scientific, technical and medical understanding.

Contact me once you've arrived. Good luck.

Marjorie LeDeaux

The fact that he'd only needed to hint around at taking LeDeaux's daughter under his wing as an intern when he returned was a little disappointing. No blackmail, no slick deal, just a simple falsehood. "Of course, her name will go to the top of the list of my undergraduates." That was all it took to get this golden ticket on board the Enterprise.

Hell, he might even follow through with it, Gabrielle LeDeaux was a hot piece of ass.

i got a golden ticket, goodbye exo iii
