Motivation

Today a good friend asked me what is my motivation?

This question is actually pretty hard for me to answer. My answer was very simple at the moment. Just spouted a couple thoughts off the top of my head. but while I was at the gym tonight I thought more on this question. When I was a beginning ultimate player I looked up to my peers. The versatility of Matty, and Taylor as players. Robot's cutting style with with the perfect mix of smarts, cunning, and a dash of tricky. Bob with his pivots, and seemingly endless throws. Spencer's endless quotes, jokes, and unnerving passion to play.

These days I still look up to my peers, but find myself neck and neck with them pitting our strengths against each other Meanwhile, pushing to see where the new breaking points of our weaknesses lie as we improve as players. My motivation finds me no longer wanting to be as good as them, but better.

So what keeps me going to track workouts, and working out almost everyday during the week?
The most obvious answer would be to finally be able to buy that beloved plane ticket to Florida, and compete on the biggest ultimate stage. Other motivations would include wanting to show my father and mother that their son is a nationally competing athlete. To win, cause no one wants to lose. To make that one ridiculous play, and see all my Polar Bear friends come rushing down the field to hug and congratulate me. And of course as a guy with testosterone flowing through my veins, I should admit for all of us a little bit of motivation comes from the lady freind(s). Finally not to end on a sappy note, getting the D, cause there's nothing that can replace that feeling of getting a hard fought D.

I've wanted to go to ECC since I started playing club. Some of the biggest teams in the country are invited, finally I get to go. This will be my first year there. I promise I will not go unnoticed.
