TV that... is happening

I woke up early today to watch the Mad Men series finale. If anyone wants to, you know, talk about it, or has links to good meta / episode reviews, please do :-) I was left with a lot of feelings but, as minor as it is in the scope of the show, one of the things I was left with was Peggy and Staaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan omg that scene made me SO HAPPY. Like, there were things happening in the episode, you know, there was Peggy and Joan, and Joan and her business, and Peggy and Don, and Don and Betty, and Sally and Bobby, and all of the Don, and Roger, and Pete, and I enjoyed a lot of what they did with all of them, and I liked the episode's ending scene, but mostly, in the end, the part that just made my heart HAPPY was Peggy and Stan, because damn does she deserve to be loved by that dude and supported and respected and adored. And I've kind of - platonically shipped them for the past season or two, I guess, but never thought it would actually happen, and definitely did not envision it happening in a way that made me so happy. But that whole scene was adorable, and Stan and Peggy were adorable, and the juxtaposition of that scene with her conversation with Don was maybe a little difficult but you know what, I don't care. I just hope Peggy gets to be with a good dude who honestly loves her and supports her and her career for a while.

While we are on the subject of finales, The Good Wife happened too. It was a week ago, so really what do I even remember it feels like eons ago, but... while I'm still overly unsure what the entire point of Alicia running for SA was, I ended up being glad she lost, and I'm fine with where the whole thing ended up, with her and Canning potentially partnering up. I'm glad things didn't work out with Finn as partner because if they'd worked together they wouldn't have been able to get together and like, my one burning desire for TGW this past season has been for Finn and Alicia's subtext to turn into text basically. Of course, it's not like they can get together if he, you know, leaves and tries to work things out with his wife, so that basically killed me - all of the people Alicia's close to, leaving one at a time - but ultimately made for a season finale I was satisfied with. Her last scene with Kalinda definitely felt forced and fan service-y but I don't care, I'm glad we got an onscreen goodbye anyway, for my mental healthy, and I'm happy to have the assurance that Kalinda is taking care of herself and has enough leverage to keep herself safe, even though she'll never return. (MAYBE. I wish some really good author wrote a really good futurefic about a reunion with her maybe 15 years down the line. But like, a REALLY GOOD author.) And finally, I really like Alicia and Carey's cordial, friendly relationship - I hope they manage to weather the challenges of working at different firms next season, wherever that goes.

In hockey news, haha, there is hockey happening. 90% of my emotions are currently invested in the Chicago Blackhawks winning their best-of-7 series against the Anaheim Ducks. As a former Californian and a child of the nineties it goes against all of my natural instincts to root against a team that was founded by Disney, but you know. I'm managing just fine :D The Hawks lost Game 1 of the series, but you know. Hoping for the best.

Meanwhile, it's 40 degrees here today (104 fahrenheit), with dry winds and the kind of heat that seems to weigh on you like bricks. The weather's been perfect the last few weeks, and I hope the heat wave subsides soon, because open windows > fan or a/c forever.
