DID WE KNOW ABOUT THIS

Let me remedy that, *I* DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS:

Noah (in theaters March 2014)
Director: Darren Aronofsky
Emma Watson ...Ila
Logan Lerman ...Ham
Jennifer Connelly ...Naameh
Russell Crowe ...Noah
Anthony Hopkins ...Methuselah
Kevin Durand ...Og
Douglas Booth ...Shem

Exodus (in theaters December 2014)

Director: Ridley Scott
Aaron Paul ...Joshua
Christian Bale ...Moses
Joel Edgerton ...Rhamses
Ben Kingsley ...???
Sigourney Weaver ...Tuya (??)
John Turturro ...Seti (???)
María Valverde ...Séfora (????)
Gerard Monaco ...Scientist (?????)

SO I HAVE THOUGHTS ON THIS. NOT REALLY ACTUALLY IT IS MOSTLY A JUMBLE OF FEELINGS. Since I literally want to write everything about this in capslock I'll put it under a cut to spare your eyeballs.

EMMA WATSON OMG. Who is Ila? Who is Og? Will this fim be the great redemption for all Na'amahs in teaching the world how to pronounce their name or will they pronounce it all wrong (Naameh?)? Will this be a crossover with all other flood mythologies or stick to just the Bible? WILL IT INCLUDE ALL OF THE CREEPY INCEST?

AARON PAUL AND CHRISTIAN BALE AS MOSES AND JOSHUA OMG. AND A SCIENTIST. AND UGH MOSES AND RAMASES AND JOSHUA, SERIOUSLY, FEELINGS. When will they start their plot and how far will they go? Will they be able to surpass the brotherly angst drama of Prince of Egypt? WILL IT BE SURPRISE!CHRISTIANITY LIKE THAT TIME I READ A NOVEL ABOUT MOSES BY ORSON SCOTT CARD AND MOSES WENT UP TO THE MOUNTAIN AND SUDDENLY HAD VISIONS ABOUT JESUS. (I didn't know OSC well when I read the book, okay, I didn't know.)

Will these movies feel Jewish or Christian or completely generic bland monotheism is great join in preachy (or Muslim but this is more far fetched because... everything)? Will everyone be white? Will they do the story right? Which, duh, there are a million interpretations to every single verse int he Bible, will they be able to fit at least some of that richness into the stories they tell? Will the stories acknowledge supernatural/miraculous events (staffs turning into snakes) and/or the existence of a god who talks back with words? Will they have Amalek? Why isn't there a Miriam in the main cast?

Will these films turn into a mainstream fandom? You know side from the Bible being huge fucking terrible world fandom, will the AO3 start filling up with Moses/Ramases and Shem/Ham/Yefet slash? Not that I want it to - I'm perfectly happy with the Bible being reserved for rare fandom fests and Broadway musicals - but god, what if. It would probably be bizarre and everything would be doing everything wrong I don't even know.

BASICALLY: + !!!!! + WHAT. (+SCIENTIST.)

And why isn't Sebastian Stan in the cast, I ask you.
