A thing that made me happy today: our office has recently undergone some organizational changes (that is not the thing), which means that some teams have been switched around, split and merged with each other. My office used to be two small teams of people doing the same thing, overall 2 guys and 7 girls. I'm still in the same office, but now we're four people who are doing our thing, and five new people who've moved in doing a different thing, and we're all one big team, overall 4 girls and 5 guys.
We're all adjusting still to each other and learning each other's habits and personalities and comfort zones and, importantly, musical tastes. It's interesting to see how the atmosphere's changes -- how the one guy from my old team acts subtly differently around a bunch of four new guys he's sharing the office with, how there are suddenly balls being tossed around all the time all the time, man, those guys really like pummeling each other with balls of all sizes). It's different and interesting, and I'm waiting for the day where we all already know each other and the new people know my quirks and tastes like the old team did, without me worrying about things I do or say weirding people out.
So we're all in that stage of getting-to-know-the-new-people and tonight I stayed overtime with just one of the new guys left, and with the others gone, knowing I'd face no objections, I started playing Adam Lambert's
cover of Feelin' Good. And when the first note came on, the new guy said, "Oh yeah, great song choice," and the moment Adam's came on, he said, "Whoa, Adam Lambert? Nice, best recording of that song I've ever heard, that guy's amazing."
Sometimes it really is the small things.
Now, things!
1. A while ago I went to see that Beit Zvi (local Arts Academy) production of Les Mis and their Valjean made me not only like but love, for once, the song Bring Him Home. Here he is singing it:

(performed by Idan Shemi). I'm not sure if it's actually performed on the same scale as the song usually is -- there are definitely less falsettos -- but I love it. Musicals fans who care about musicals in Hebrew, you can browse through the Beit Zvi youtube playlists for more.
2. Not all of it, but much of
http://www.yiddishcursesforrepublicanjews.com/ makes me laugh.
3. Via Pop Culture Happy Hour, fake Ian McKellan does dramatic readings of
Baby Got Back and
The Fresh Prince theme song.
4. In hockey news, 19-year-old Gabriel Landeskog has been named Captain of the Colorado Avalanche, aka Youngest Captain in the NHL Ever. His assistant captain will be the former captain who is 17 years his senior. Gabe's Swedish, has a twin sister, has been living in North American on his own since he was 16, played his rookie season in the NHL last year winning Rookie of the Year, and will be able to drink in the US in 14 months.
ANYWAY he is
kind of adorbs and
looks like a freaking Ken doll and
here is the requisite nipple pinching photo because oh why not. And as I also find his twitter overall delightful, here are a few quotes:
Excited to play against my old roommate and teammate Jeff Skinner. Will be different but a lot of fun!!
