Me grandmama was kind enough to accompany me to the theater tonight, after I found no one else to go with. Not that she was really a second choice, I'd thought to go with her yesterday but ended up waiting over an hour for a bus that never came D:. Tonight I was only hampered by the traffic jam from HELL that made a 15-minute ride take over an hour, but whatever, we ended up being only a liiiitle (okay kind of a lot) late to the show.
Anyway! We saw
Les Fourberies de Scapin ("Scapin's Deceits") which was the most classic kind of Moliere comedy. A few weeks ago I saw his Don Juan, which took a surprising turn towards seriousness and outright religious criticism somewhere in the middle, which felt exciting to me as it was unsettling. Scapin, though, is 100% classic comedy, complete with smitten lovers and trickster servants and cheapskate fathers names Argente and long lost children and happy endings. It was a production of the Jerusalem Khan theater, which I don't go to much, so I didn't recognize any of the actors. The stage was very minimalistic -- okay, basically the stage was just a white carpet -- and the clothes were a modern/17th century mashup, you know, the theater kind, where they wear both breeches and ties -- so it wasn't the production that was impressive, but the direction and the acting. The actors had comic timing down to an art, whether it was slapstick or witty barbs, and the text itself was fun and funny, with a great translation by legendary poet Natan Alterman. And okay, two of the actors, yes please. Ariel Wolf who played one of the young smitten lovers was long and bendy and really cute and funny, and Vitali Freidland, who was the lead, was simply amazing, smooth and charming and incredibly funny. He's considered to be one of the Khan theater's up and coming rising stars, and with good reason. I look forward to seeing him do more things in the upcoming years. (Also, the part where he made Ariel Wolf fall to his knees and beg him? That was nice.)
In the name of ~comprehensiveness~, here are all the The Good Wife ep reactions I have found on my flist:
post by mardiapost by swatkatpost by musesfoolpost by bellpost by summerstorm My favorite part is how everyone's reactions are essentially the same. Like, every element of the episode pretty much got the same responses, which are also my responses, so yay, I don't need to spell them out myself :D The only thing I have to add, maybe, is that I find Alicia seriously ridiculously hot.
Also today: I wore
this shirt that I bought last week! I love it lots :D
ETA: Ooh, also, before I forget: I would really love some country music recs, if any of you have any :D I am very underexposed to country, and I've always kind of liked it but I just have no idea what's going on in that genre at all. I'd love to hear songs with melodies you like, songs that are fun to listen to, songs that make you feel good.
Even more specifically, I'd love recs for female country singers (because that means I can actually sing along in a normal range for my voice), bonus points if they're also singer-songwriters. I was reminded that I've wanted to request this when
Glee's version of Landslide came up on my iPod and I listened to it and wanted more, please.
