Thoughts:
--Four of these (1, 2, 6, 7) were first posted to the AO3 anonymously as part of challenges (Yuletide 2009, Purimgifts 2010, Yuletide 2010, Remix 2010)
--Six of these were American Idol RPF, which is the first big fandom I was in after the AO3 was founded, and fics were crossposted to the AO3 pretty much at the same time as they were to LJ/DW.
--In fact, only the two fics tied at 10 were written before circa May 2009, and were uploaded to the AO3 months later.
--There are only four crossovers on the list! This is surprising.
--Most surprising to me though is the Hawaii 5-0 ficlet I wrote. My only purpose in writing that fic was to go down in fannish history as the first person to post fic for what looked like a potentially enormous fandom but was at that point barely on the radar. I posted that fic less than 24 hours after the pilot aired, after making sure that no fics had been posted on any of the very skimpy Hawaii 5-0 LJ comms, nor on ff.net, before the AO3 even had a Hawaii 5-0 (2010) tag. I wasn't even sure how to spell the characters' names yet; that part took more googling than writing the fic itself. Eventually it turned out that someone must have posted fic at the exact same time I did, hitting submit only minutes or even seconds before me, because my fic is listed as being the second Hawaii 5-0 fic at the AO3.
At least a month after the show started airing that fic had less than 100 hits. I can only imagine that what has happened since was this: more people got into the show, went browsing for fic at the AO3, saw it as one of the only stories, clicked, skimmed this strange piece of out of character cracky gen and thought what the fuck and back-clicked, if they even stayed that long at all. So if you're one of those people -- and really, if you're in the fandom in general -- sorry for that :-)
To make this not all about me, the fic trope meme! It's been fascinating for me to read why people like or dislike these tropes, hearing them talking about overcoming their distaste for a certain trope because an author they liked wrote it, sometimes being unable to explain it at all. I will do a very very sucky job at explaining them, but one thing I can do is rec :D Unfortunately for people who read this and care about my fandoms, anything I rec here will be something I've almost certainly recced before, so sorry about that.
ETA: oh god, what just happened. I just spent the last three hours writing this. There are already 40 recs, and I still have 9 tropes to go /o\ /o\ /o\ I'm just going to push off posting that other meme for tomorrow. /o\.
