Okay, one more fun post before I go be all srs bzns with myself.
1. Yesterday's Adam/Bradley Whitford mention? Apparently after last year's AMA debacle,
Bradley Whitford actually spoke about Adam Lambert. WITH AN ENORMOUS SCARY MUSTACHE ON HIS FACE. Which you can also see
here, which I WILL NOT thank you
goseaward for linking me to because it has scarred me forever.
Also Adam-related: I just saw his
duet of Aftermath with Alisan Porter and I think it's adorable.
2. PIMPING:
thesameband is a new Panic! at the Disco news/discussion comm, where you can get all your PatD news and talk about it in the comments without feeling like the band is looking over your shoulder \o/ I am already happy with it as a news source, but for it to also be a fun place to talk in people should join up, so join join join :D Possibly it will reduce Bandom news spammage at my journal. (Possibly not. But in any case, I have already made my remarks about Spencer's current facial hair /o\ known there.)
3. Still Bandom, via
bunniewabbit's tumblr,
this is the coolest thing: someone overlaid the intro and first verse of I Write Sins Not Tragedies over the intro and first verse of Ballad of Mona Lisa, and guys. Wow. This is so fascinating.
4. So yesterday I was at the record store exchanging 2 CDs that I got for my birthday but already had. I walked around the store for like half an hour finding NOTHING I wanted to by. Finally I caved and asked the dude whether they had the new MCR album. He took me to the secret upstairs room (wtf) where it was stacked, so I got that (it costs the equivalent of $20, what the actual fuck was I even thinking, it's not like the band even gets the money, ugh), and also a random CD by a local artist whose album cover I liked that I heard on the car home and, to my great surprise, I ended up really liking! It's by Malka Ingedashet, an Israeli-Ethiopian singer whose style is a combination of soul, gospel, jazz, reggae, even some disco.
Here's one of her songs on youtube; not my favorite, but the only one that has a music video as far as I can tell.
5. Via
harborshore, a gorgeous new
photoshoot of The Like, a tour diary of their European, uh, tour. Honestly, even if you don't know who they are but just like photos of pretty girls touring Europe, you should click on that.
6. Finally, RECS:
WROCK BAND by
zarathuse (zarathuse wrote MCR fic omg! \o/) -- MCR AU, Frank/Gerard, NC-17, ~13k words.
“It’s okay to love something maybe a little too much as long as it’s real to you.” - Gerard Way
So. This is an AU where MCR are a wrock band, ie a Harry Potter tribute band, and lolol it could not be more perfect if it tried. Gerard is so adorably dorky and himself and it follows the entire origins story of the band and every little RL detail fits in seamlessly, and it hilarious and hot and I love it.
Gerard sits in the corner, working on lyrics. He gives that up after one practice-says he can’t concentrate with them around. Instead, he shows up the next Tuesday with a gigantic bag of yarn and a pair of honest-to-god fucking knitting needles.
“I asked my grandma to teach me how to knit,” he says when Frank stares, like that explains anything at all. “We’re gonna need scarves if we wanna do this right, and the only one I have now is this Gryffindor one my cousin brought me back from England.”
Frank stares some more. Gerard beams at him, apparently misinterpreting his blank shock as astonishment that anyone would think Gerard would be in Gryffindor.
“I know, right?” Gerard holds up his knitting needles proudly, displaying the slightly lopsided rows of silver and green. “Fuck that noise!”
My only warning is that Frank's attitude towards Gerard's (and the fans') fannishness can be a little off-putting, to which I say: keep reading.
No Mean Art by
arsenicjade -- Spencer/Brendon/Ryan, NC-17. I can't believe that my second no_tags prompt got filled, and that it was filled by Arsenic! This is Brendon and Ryan and Spencer post-TYV-split, and it has fantastic sharp dialogue and tense emotions and everyone is annoyed or vulnerable or in love or all of the above, and there is insomnia and cuddling. I love fics that take place in the now, and this was so satisfying to read.
