College interview was today, and I pretty much kicked it's ass. The guy was an alumni who has an insurance business here in Amherst, so (yay) I didn't have to drive all the way to New York.
Lololol, my sister and I pulled up and Never Gonna Give You Up started playing. The only thing better than getting Rick Roll'd before my interview for Columbia is if Eye of the Tiger had played instead, but I'll take what I can get.
The guy was incredibly nice and relaxed and looked alarmingly like Robert Sean Leonard, which I was totally okay with. :D The interview went well, like I said. He started off by saying the whole point of it was to figure out who I was beyond my grades and transcripts, and ME, BEING SUPER CHARMING AND HILARIOUS ON THE SPOT, SAY "But what if my transcripts say I'm a really, really good person? :D? :D?"
And he had like the weirdest high-pitched cackle thing but fucking lol it was adorable and goes, "They do. If they didn't, you wouldn't be here."
Gooooood answer, Mr. Boyd. I was very impressed at how conversational it was. I did most of the talking, yes, but a few times we sat there and traded stories. He told me about his experience going from tiny suburban living in the Boston area, to big, upscale Manhattan in the end of the 60s. During the Vietnam war, the students basically took over Columbia, holding classes out on the front lawns. He said he'd originally started out with maths and sciences, but then switched to philosophy (LOL), and we all shared quite the chuckle over that.
He ended up taking three full pages of notes. Like, full, scribbling in stuff in the space between lines and pausing and going back and making me repeat things.
In short, I think I'm in. \o/
i wanna be the very best,
real life,
