A little late, but I hope everyone had a good one, and remembers what it was for.
Busy couple of days for me. I was out of town all weekend - supposed to be on that fishing trip, but something came up, so Mr. St Louis crafted a promise outta me that I'll come down and have dinner. And I will, man, don't ever break promises, just don't know when.
Practice started up again yesterday after the Memorial Day break, which was nice, cause I had a small visit with the family. Just a day, but still nice. Dad's feelin' great, school's so close to bein' out that Carlee can taste it, and Mom's in the full swing with her summer yoga sessions (she's a yoga instructor. And while yes, I've done yoga, no, I don't know really nothin' about it, so by all means don't ask.) Basketball, fireworks, and hot dogs. Guess which one of those three my trainers'd freak out about, heh. I took some fireworks back home in case I can't make it back for the 4th, but turns out they're illegal in Pennsylvania, soooo...who knows. Maybe I'll set em off anyway. Or give them to my teammates to set off. That always works.
So we're practicing til June 9th then we're off til training camp which starts up on July 31st. Off meaning no practice, but there's always the workout sessions, just the coaches won't be round much after this, if at all. So close. So close...I feel great, now, after this rookie season, no more daily aches and pains (well, maybe a few) so I know I'm just about ready to go. And - ...well, maybe this isn't the time to do a post about the upcoming season but tough, I'm in a talkative mood tonight - we're gonna get it done this season. Cause I ain't used to losing, not as a quarterback...I've spent about the least amount of time in this position as any pro QB so my track record's pretty good. State championships my first year as a senior in high school, two years playing in college - one was winning the Bowl - and then last year. Four years, two goals accomplished, not enough. So close last year, I don't wanna ever have to walk into that locker room and apologize to those boys, say "I'm sorry, I failed." Naw, never again. Won't be happening this year. I might only've played four seasons at QB but I've felt like a quarterback my whole life, and this season...yeah, yeah. See, told you it was too early for this kinda speech in my LJ, but I'm wired today, for some reason.
Maybe cause a bunch of the boys went to Dave & Buster's. I think that's a national chain, right? The video game joint? And man, I can sit there and play House of the Dead III for hours. So I think that's why I'm all pumped - but anyway.
One of my line boys just had a baby! Alan Faneca, and the little boy is so cute. I told him I'd be happy to babysit. Am I crazy for that? Ionno, I just love kids, and the thing is you can give these ones back. I always babysit for my one teammate, Jerome, and he's black, so I'm carting around this little black girl and people give me looks. Heh.
There was an arrest warrant out for Plax, and even though he ain't on my team anymore he's still one of my best buds, and of course the whole thing is ridiculous. Unpaid taxes. Please, the man got paid 15 mil over the last couple of years, he don't need to evade taxes. Apparently the warrant is no more, being that the tax charge was bogus anyway, but that kinda stuff makes me a little mad, you know? One wrong assumption, you get bad press, that stuff STAYS with you, man.
Speakin' of press (and Plax), I found this:
Roethlisberger and Burress enjoyed a close relationship - too close if you ask the Steelers.
Ha, now I don't wanna know what most of you guys're thinkin', but nothin' like that. I found that being addicted to ESPN (the channel and the website) takes on a whole new interesting twist when you're the one being written about. They reviewed the Steelers division, and it's one of those things where you know you shouldn't look but you do. They claimed that I adjusted my routes for him, went outside the playbook. And while it might be true that we did try a few things, it was only when the called play went nosediving. Please, I was a rookie, you don't think my coaches woulda killed me if I'da tried to pull a Peyton and call my own stuff? Lame, ESPN.
Got late fast. I hate west coast games on TV. My cue to go to bed, I guess.
