Yesterday at the Watertown sectional I lost the most IMPs I've ever lost on a single hand: 22 IMPs from a point differential of 3200. :-/
It was a pretty crazy hand though. Both sides vulnerable, west dealer.
West (dealer):

North:

East:

South:

I was playing south, and at our table, west opened 2C (playing standard). North followed with 4D (psycho-suction, showing either diamonds or both majors) and East passed, showing a game forcing hand. I was happy with either diamonds or majors, so I bid 5D, hoping to dissuade our opponents from a heart game. Unfortunately, West had heard all she needed, and bid 6H. Passed to me, and I passed as well since I decided we'd cut off communication enough and there was a decent chance they wouldn't make it. But they made 7: my partner reasonably decided not to lead his ace. Down 1460.
At the other table, our teammates were playing precision, so west opened 1C. North decided on 5D instead of 4, and east's pass didn't imply any sort of strength. South passed, but now West only bid 5H. Passed around to South, who "sacrificed" in 6D, which was doubled by west. Too bad that 6 diamonds makes 7. Lose another 1740 points.
The par contract is 7 spades by north-south. Good luck finding it though.
