Well, I survived...

Both Thanksgiving and the day after. I was pretty tired after the holiday and working almost 9 hours during the busiest shopping day of the year, so I spent most of today resting and relaxing. Now that the worst is over with, I have 5 days off from Bergners since the DC (Distribution Center) has an extra long weekend, so we wont be getting any trucks in until Thursday- Woo Hoo!. So I will be enjoying the hell out of my days off*lol*.

Thanksgiving
Well, my families second Thanksgiving went pretty good. Had a pretty good time hanging out at my Parents and spending some time with my brother Roger, his wife, and my nephew Tanner. I also brought Richard out to spend the holiday with us and he had a really good time as well. We had the standard thanksgiving fare, turkey (no brining this year since my dad insisted on cooking it), stuffing (kind of like home made stove top stuffing since we don't stuff our turkeys), cranberry sauce from the can (yuck), mashed potatoes and gravy, some delicious dinner rolls, and pumkin and chocolate silk pies (both regular and with splenda so my mother and Richard could indulge). I had also been invited over to Phyllis's place for a heathen thanksgiving dinner, but since I had to work Friday, it was pretty much out of the question. I may go up and spend some time up there around the 9th of December though... really want to hang out with her and some of my old friends again and head over to Chinatown to do some giftmas shopping.

So we got stuffed on good food and good company, I had fun playing around with my nephew and running around with him (he is getting to be really big and deceptivly strong for a 6 year old *lol*). Played some kiddie games with him and took him up to the little playground park in Rio and let him run and play off some of the dinner. But afterwards I started getting a little sick. I think it was from being out in the wind and getting kind of a sinus infection, but I took some medicine and felt better after a bit.

But after we left my parents, I took Richard out shopping at K-mart (which was open all day Thanksgiving) to do some early Christmas shopping. So we spent about an hour running around there. It wasn't too bad since the store wasn't crowded. So he got almost all his shopping done without having to deal with the christmas rush that would be happening Friday.

Speaking of which...
After taking Richard shopping, I took some NyQuil and went to bed fairly early since I was going to have a Loooooong day ahead of me. I woke up at about 7 am. I thought about heading out and doing a little shopping at Wal-mart or Bergners, but decided not too. Wal-mart was having a huge DVD sale. But I figured by this point (since they had already been open 2 hours or so) all the good movies that were on sale would be sold out, so I decided just to go back to bed and get a few more hours of sleep before heading into the madness.

I woke up at about 10:30 and got Richard taken care of, showered, and ready for work. At 11:30 I headed to work and saw that the store was still packed. We had door-buster sales going on from 5 am to 1 am. So the customers were trying to get in on the sale before it ended (which was kind of a moot point since they extended the doorbuster sale until 2). But I got punched in and helped the early shift get some things done. After 1, I was pretty much on my own back on the dock, and the crowds began dying down, so things started getting kind of quiet and boring. After a few hours of trying to find things to do until somebody needed something, they began clearing off all the doorbuster sale tables and so I had to go around and pick all of them up. But after I got most of it picked up and things had settled down, I went and got my paycheck, punched out for my lunch break, and went and cashed my paycheck. It was actually a fairly large paycheck, so I was really happy. But I deposited almost all of it, got some gas and something quick to eat from the gas station, and headed back to work. The rest of the night went fairly quickly, if not a bit on the boring side surprisingly enough. I was figuring on it being a nightmare, but it turned out to be rather boring... go figure *lol*.

I'm planning on avoiding all the stores this weekend. I am planning on going and doing my giftmas shopping either Monday or Tuesday. I am planning on going up to the Quad Cities, but I might head down to Peoria... not sure yet. I want to go someplace a little bigger to have a better selection and after getting my shopping done, going out somewhere really nice to eat. I am kind of torn between going to Sakuras (a really great Sushi/Habachi resturant) in the Q.C. or going to Red Lobster or a really good rib place down in Peoria...

But as soon as my Bergners check goes into my account I plan on getting my shopping done and having a good time.
