Well, Black Friday is over with now. Turns out I DID have to close the store last night since we closed at 9.
I didn't really feel like working yesterday. I was achy, fatigued, and had a headache, I think I might have been coming down with a touch of the flu. But 9 extra hours on the paycheck (plus the fact that I would lose my Thanksgiving holiday pay) motivated me to go into work and make the best of it.
Luckily, I didn't have to work during the uber-crazy time when the doorbusters was going on. And I did have someone back there to help for 4 hours, so that was what probably saved me. But after the doorbuster even was over with, we had to take down all the tables and fixtures that had the special sale items on them, and then take all the remaining merchandice back upstairs to the main stockroom.
Fortunatly, there wasn't a whole lot that went back upstairs since we sold a TON of stuff yesterday. I'm sure our managers are happy, cause I think our store made its plan for the day at around 6 o'clock or so.
Which is a good thing, since after 6, most of the shoppers had already glutted themselves on commercialism and bought all of what they wanted, so the store was pretty much dead for the next three hours. Which was fine by me, since I felt pretty much the same way *lol*. But I am glad that the night went fairly quickly and smoothly, and people actually *gasp* left after the store was closed!! In the past, you pretty much had to use a cattle-prod to get people out of the store after it was closed.
Today I am sore and tired, but I am assuming that is because I worked 9 hours yesterday during the crazy time. I got paid yesterday, but since the checks didn't get in until 2 in the afternoon, and I had to work the entire day, I couldn't take it to the bank yet.
So that is where I am off to. To go cash my fairly large paycheck and perhaps do a little Giftmas shopping of my own.
Oh and in case anyone missed the special message to my f-list post yesterdaym here is the link to it. :)
