Behind the cut you'll find a summary of some of my favorite music videos.
Before you click the cut, there are a couple of things I'd like to point out:
1) If a YouTube link isn't added, it's because I couldn't find one that was posted by the actual vidder.
2) If a link to a downloadable version isn't added, it's because a) I couldn't find it, b) it's not available (anymore), or c) the vidder doesn't want to be linked.
3) Please don't post links in the comments if I probably left them out because of the reasons given at 1), 2b) or 2c).
4) The reason I love a video is purely personal. It's not a matter of how technically complex or artistically amazing a clip is, but what it does for me. If it made me laugh, cry, giggle, smile, jawdrop or run to the shop to buy a complete dvd set.
DUE SOUTH
* 'Dyslexic heart' by
cathybitesShe says it best herself: Ray and Fraser confuse each other, but it all works out in the end.
YouTube video downloadable version ELIJAH WOOD:
* 'Tubthumping' by
andraste_ozA clever and amusing video with an amazing number of scenes from different movies of Elijah falling down and getting up again.
downloadable version HARD CORE LOGO:
* 'You were the last high' by Imogenedisease
Perfect song choice and the whole clip gives an excellent impression of the movie: the love, the irony, the tension, the embarrassment and the tragedy.
YouTube video LORD OF THE RINGS:
* 'White City' by TheHutt
The first time I saw this video, was at Ring*Con 2006 on a big screen, which made it more impressive. Clever editing with a wink here and there.
YouTube video * 'Godless' by
alchemillaFrodo's view on Faramir: I really needed this video after seeing The Two Towers. The song fits the mood beautifully.
YouTube clipdownloadable version LOTR ACTORS:
* 'I don't care' by Uluviel
An Elijah/Dom video, with behind the scenes footage from LOTR shooting and some other movies mixed in. One of the first ever fanvideos I've seen. With all the craziness (from both sides) cooled down, it makes me very nostalgic in a good way.
* 'The Monkeys' by Uluviel
A Billy/Dom friendship video. Oh so lovely and fun!
streaming and downloadable versions of both videos STARGATE ATLANTIS:
The many faces of Stargate Atlantis:
Grace:
* 'Hello' by
merryishI started reading SGA fiction through
cesperanza. She pointed out this video, and after seeing that, I immediately bought the whole first season on dvd and gobbled it up with spoonfulls. It shows the wonder of Atlantis and has some of those shots that are impossible to capture, because it's all about movement. Such a graceful video.
downloadable version Action:
* 'Right here, right now' by
hollywoodgrrlAn exciting, thrilling video, crammed with action, amazing editing.
YouTube video downloadable version Food for thought:
* 'In the end' by Roelof P.
This is for me the ultimate Michael video. Had I found this earlier, I wouldn't have felt the need to try and make my own. Perfect song, great use of letting some of the original sound in the clip, it tells the story exactly the way I see it.
YouTube videodownloadable version * 'Sin Atlantis City' by EssStel
Set in black & white with stunning Sin City style graphics it sets a dark and mysterious mood.
YouTube video Rodney McKay centric videos:
* 'Stress' by Rache and Sandy
A Rodney McKay video, that focuses on his hyperactive nature, with lots of hand-movements and eye-rolls. Favorite moment: 'When I have to work late. When I have to work late. (Which I usually do...)'
Imeem video * 'White and nerdy' by Wiccanslyr
Of course it had to be done! And I like this version best. Some scenes are just spot on fitting to the song.
downloadable version * 'I feel fantastic' by Era Yachi
A Rodney video set to a song by Jonathan Coulton: Geek squared!! ♥
YouTube video Rodney/John centric videos:
The following three videos really show everything I love so dearly about John and Rodney together, whether you slash them or not; they are just such good buddies!
* 'Bohemian like you' by
astolat downloadable version * 'Alf meets McShep' by Chayiana
YouTube video * 'I'll be there for you' by Chayiana
YouTube video * 'Blaze of glory' by Chayiana
This is so not my kind of music, but I completely love the scenes she picked for this one, and it shows just how much the way they go together is unquestioned. When Rodney says 'come with me major' he doesn't have to check: John follows.
YouTube video * 'This is how it works' by
limI was already sweetly moved by this beautiful and special video before I read the fic it's a tribute to. But now I've read the story, I can't watch this video without completely choking up. Like the song, the video is strong and fragile at the same time.
Imeem video * 'Absolutely Cookoo' by
zoetropeShort and whacky, but totally sweet and very original style. Makes me giggle every time I watch.
YouTube video * 'John Sheppard does Sin City' by Nelthaler
Technically less clever than 'Sin Atlantis City' that I linked earlier, but think the timing and the choice in clips are better.
YouTube video STARGATE: SG-1
* 'Firestarter' by Psychotronius (?)
Exciting, fast-paced video, not focused on any character in particular but mostly on the action, with an unusual but fitting choice in music. I'm not sure who the actual maker of this video is, but I can't be sure it's not the person posting either, so I'll just give this one the benefit of doubt and link it.
YouTube video * 'Pain' by Ranereins
Boy do the writers of SG-1 like to let Daniel suffer. And I hate to admit it, but yeah, he suffers so beautifully...
YouTube video * 'What hurts the most' by Dragonfly
I'm a couple of episodes into season 6 now, and oh god, this video is more dramatic than is usually my taste, at this point, it fits. I tear up every time.
downloadable version THE SENTINEL:
* 'Harder to breathe' by Peterneverland
I really love how this video shows the passion, how these characters clash sometimes but ultimately need each other and how beneath the occasional conflict there's a deep respect and love. Absolutely my favorite Sentinel video. It's a shame it's no longer available for download on the internet, because the quality of that version was much better, but this gives a nice impression.
YouTube video * 'Coffee time' by Sally
A lovely mellow video, with lots of coffee moments edited together.
* 'Mr. Sandman' by Sally
For those who manage to miss the slashy subtext in this series; this one brings it home all right! A very sweet and amusing video.
downloadable versions of both clips TRADERS:
* 'Code Monkey' by SamusMcAslan
This song is just so perfect for Grant, you really get a good impression of what he's about.
