Today was my second and last viewing of The Tempest, with loreley_se. When getting to our seats I thought I spotted archaeologist_d and her husband, and indeed it was them, so we turned out to be seated in the same row!

It was nice to see the subtle changes between two months back and now. For one; it was sunny instead of raining. The audience was nice again, I'd say a bit more inclined to laugh and I think the acting was also more catering to that. On the one hand I thought the balance between fun and moving was a bit more satisfying the first time, on the other hand the actors played with more confidence this time, so I can't really say I prefer one over the other.

Colin seems to have some difficulties with his voice again. He sounded a bit hoarse and singing didn't come easy. It didn't bother me though, I just noticed. He still managed to boom like whoa during the Harpy scene, and for his final solo it made him sound fragile, which fitted the mood.

After the play the was a short break until the Talking Theater. It was already clear that Colin wasn't going to be there so some went to the stage door, hoping to see him there. We hung around in the main hall when I spotted Billy Boyd. I turned to loreley_se and londinensa to tell them, turned back saying "look, over there" only to find I'd been caught pointing. So we all sheepishly waved and said "hi" while he grinned and waved back before going on his way again. So yeah...

The actors for the Q&A were Sam Cox and Trevor Fox, who were a delight: lots of fun and very interesting. Two Colin related things that came up were that Colin is extra careful with his running and jumping when it's raining, because everything gets slippery then, and he also keeps a little more distance when sneaking around his fellow actors for that reason. And since today marked the 400th anniversary of when the original Globe burned down, they'd done a little ritual earlier that day; they'd gone outside, each with a cup of water, Roger had said a little prayer coming down to "please, let's not burn down the place again" and they'd thrown the contents of their cups against the building.

Anyway, the talk went by very fast. When we moved outside rocknvaughn came up to me, asked me if I was RC and then introduced herself and her daughter. We went ouside where more people had already gathered and after a while crossed the street to Pizza Express where we'd booked a table for 10. Good thing it wasn't a problem we turned up with 16...

It turned out Colin had done the stage door thing, so that was lovely for those who'd been waiting and with a little luck we'll get some pics out of that. I'm perfectly fine with my decision to go the less stressful way of attending the Q&A!

We had something to eat and drink and did some musical chairs without the music (or the chairs for that matter) so we could have short meetings with different people. Managed to say hi to bunnysworld after having missed her at Cold Con, and was particularly pleased to shake hands with amphigoury, since I'm a fan of her art. After a very enjoyable meal we each went our way in smaller groups.

loreley_se and I had a nice evening walk along the South Bank to Vauxhall station, and now we're back at her place.

An excellent day
