“On three,” Dani said.
“Zero,” Crews said, and Dani would’ve rolled her eyes had the two of them not been about to make an arrest, “one two three.”
They shoved the door open - really, the locks in this apartment building were crap; and even shut, the doors’d open with a nudge, a fart, or a breeze - “POLICE! Hands on your head!”
The kid - white male, glasses, early 20s - looked over at a girl his age (whilst both were doing as instructed) and said, “Annie, when I said this vacation package was a steal, I didn’t mean literally.”
“I know, George,” Annie replied.

“Why don’t you tell us?” Reese asked. It’d been a long day already.
“I don’t know,” Annie said.
“Try us.”
“You won’t believe us.”
“Sure we will,” Crews said. “Because you’ll tell us the truth.”
“Oh,” George said, “that’ll go over well.”
“Sure it will. You’ll see. Trust us.”
“Okay,” George said. “I’m a werewolf , and Annie’s a ghost.”
Crews and Reese were mutually silent for a long moment. “She’s right. We don’t believe you.”
